This topic was spoke briefly in an ESO Live. At least that is where I believe I seen it.

With 1.6, Tamriel Unlimited, and Console inbound, the forums have blown up with threads. Some of these threads are trivial, some are silly, some are constructive, etc etc. The threads that need attention are being buried by the influx of new traffic. The upvote/downvote system is needed more than ever now. Help us help you ZoS, further consider the system and maybe quickly :)

Nice idea in theory, but the problem with having any kind of downvote anywhere is that there's a lot of people out there that downvote things just because they disagree with them. Not because they actually merit a downvote. Just look at how many people here considered the LOL button something to click just because they disagreed with or disliked the poster instead of something to click because the post made them laugh.

It is not a very effective system.

Generally tend to benefit those who belong to large groups or have many followers Thus, those with a large majority of friends or followers can achieve void any type of content from other users who are not in agreement.

It becomes a system to exclude contents of the minority that thinks differently and automatically loses its ability to express themselves and share ideas.
