Disorients; Not Affected By CC Immunity?

There are bound to be people who get angry about me posting this, as I'm sure I'm not the only one who's noticed it. However, I would like to make sure if this isn't a bug or considered an exploit before I go spamming it all over Tamriel and consequently get myself smacked for exploiting.

I was running through Lady Llarel's Shelter last night to nab chests for gear with Traits I need/leveling my WW Skills when I realized something. I could pin down any enemy, including the boss, indefinitely with Spear Shards. At first I thought I was just clicking too fast for the game to register the CC immunity or something, but I tested it in several locations and the result was always the same; I could keep any enemy locked down until they died or I ran out of the Magicka to keep using the Skill.

So is this supposed to be able to happen? Are Disorients in general doing this, or is it just Spear Shards? It's handy for keeping difficult enemies pinned so long as they aren't immune to CC in general, but like I said, I'd rather make sure this is working as intended than stay quiet about it and get blasted later if it's discovered to be a bug or something.

CC (unable to do anything except breakout, this include knock backs) will trigger CC immunity but it does not include root or disorientation. You can root or disorient someone for ever (PC or NPC)

Root really only effects melee. Disorientation only really effects casters but you can not have both effects on you at once (one will instantly clear the other).

If the NPC is silly and chain casts, you can chain disorient them

There is something with Mass Hysteria from Nb and needs fix, like sometimes when you get feared you drop beneath the surface and teleport to wayshrine of alliance, also dk talons with bitting jabs needs some modification on durations.

Huh, I wonder why they made CC give immunity, but not Disorients? If you can pin with Root/Disorient as easily as CC you think it would grant the immunity as well, since it's all doing the same thing (keeping NPC/PC from being able to do anything). But hey, at least I know this isn't an exploit that I can get in trouble for abusing the heck out of XD.

I only just started a NB and she's still in Coldharbor (I haven't got her out yet b/c the lag was horrendous after creating her; gonna try again when I get my new comp this Friday), so I'm not sure about any bugs with their Skills. Do you know if this happens with Fear in general or just with Mass Hysteria?

I also haven't played a DK yet n__n'. I ran a Sorc in beta and loved her, and run a hybrid Temp now. So I can't offer any feedback on DK Skills either.

dude, answer is simple - disorient work until you damage target and cc imunity defend against it.

Er...what? What do you mean until you damage the target? Spear Shards does damage but the Disorient was still pinning all the enemies I tried it on (that aren't immune to CC/Disorient/whatever). Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're saying.

No. Petrify "bugged". Soft cc's like mez ("disorient"), snares, and roots are able to be reapplied with no immunity by design since they're easy to deal with and much less harmful since they don't prevent character action with little recourse during combat (root/snare you can still do anything you want as it only affects your movement and can be gotten rid of if wanted with purge or dodge roll... disorients can be broken out of but automatically break the moment you take damage anyway).

Petrify is actually supposed to be and used to be on the stun immunity because of its secondary effects as far as I remember. This only changed a little bit ago that I remember seeing it being able to be used multiple times on one target without triggering CC immunity as it is now and since, I think, 1.6.

Exploits suck. Don't blame just the game, blame the players abusing them!
