- Console players will be on their own servers. PS4 players with PS4 players. XBone players with XBone players. PC players with PC players. No interaction.
- Someone said you can transfer your account to console, but not your characters, effectively having to start from scratch.
- I remember reading you could transfer characters but the progress wouldn't transfer. IE: if you transfered a V2 from PC to PS4, the PS4 version would pick up where the PC version left off. But if you went back to PC, no progress would have been made.
- No add-on support for Console. But improvements will be made to the UI to better address the need for add-ons.
- Integrated voice chat for: zone, group and guild.
The thing I don't get is why aren't at the very least, PS4 and PC players going to be able to play together on the same server. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn allows this. Was it just a design decision or was Sony all like "f*ck NO" for some reason?
Any clarification on the aforementioned rumors and hearsay would be greatly appreciated (not for myself, I'm sticking PC but by other people who aren't as informed about what to expect with the console release in 2 months.)
@ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom @ZOS_JasonLeavey
Correct, with the addition that PC/Mac are still on the same megaserver.- Console players will be on their own servers. PS4 players with PS4 players. XBone players with XBone players. PC players with PC players. No interaction.
This is not the case. If you are eligible for the console transfer offer, your characters/progress/items will all transfer with you. For more on what does and does not transfer, please check out this article.- Someone said you can transfer your account to console, but not your characters, effectively having to start from scratch.
In a way, correct. Once the console transfer is completed, you'll end up with what is essentially a copy of your account on the console version, but your progress on each platform will be separate from there forward. That means that if you level up a character on the console version, it won't affect the PC version, and vice-versa.- I remember reading you could transfer characters but the progress wouldn't transfer. IE: if you transfered a V2 from PC to PS4, the PS4 version would pick up where the PC version left off. But if you went back to PC, no progress would have been made.
There will not be add on support for the console versions of the game. We'll have more info on the console UI as we get closer to release.- No add-on support for Console. But improvements will be made to the UI to better address the need for add-ons.
There will be integrated voice chat. As with the UI, we'll have more details on this feature as we get closer to release.- Integrated voice chat for: zone, group and guild.

Any specific reason behind why ZOS decided to go with no cross-platforming? I can understand why Sony and Microsoft don't want their players together, but don't understand why either one won't share servers with PC players.
Just seems like all those extra servers are going to be more of a pain.

Xbox wouldn't allow it. It's why they don't have war thunder either that's going to be x platform. Sony said yes so they got the game.
I with zeni had of followed suit and released the game on playstation only and allowed x-platform.

I have to wonder if you can copy your character over multiple times.

Why are people jumping to X console wont allow, or Y console will ?There is no indication from any worth while articles to suggest that one was in support while another was not FOR THIS GAME.
AND...considering PC can barely hold the NA together, why would anyone in the right mind want to be added to the problems that exist today as of TU launch?

We are still working out the details of how the regional (NA and EU) megaservers will impact a player's server options when transferring from PC/Mac to either PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.
Our initial plans would have only allowed players to transfer from the North American PC/Mac server to the North American console server of their choice, or from the European PC/Mac server to the European console server of their choice. However, we are now working toward a situation in which a player's PC/Mac megaserver choice will not impact the player's options when selecting a console server.
Will PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players each get different bonuses because of the deferred release?

We are actively discussing a system with both Sony and Microsoft that will allow PC players to transfer their characters over to either a PS4 or Xbox One version at release. Players who are eligible to have their characters transferred will receive an e-mail informing them of the transfer option. They will then be able to purchase the upgrade via our website at www.elderscrollsonline.com.

FFXI supported PS2, PS3, PC, and Xbox 360 players on the same servers, so it's technically possible. And FFXIV has cross platform servers, but not Xbone. MS appears to be the holdout now. I'd say if MS are going to be PITA about it, ZOS should just do what Square Enix have done and allow PS4/PC players on the same server. MS are shooting themselves in the foot with their attitude, ZOS shouldn't follow their lead.

FFXIV: A Realm Reborn is available on Windows®PC, PlayStation®3, and PlayStation®4, and players from all three versions will be able to play together regardless of the version they purchase!"
