Gabriel99
Just purchased the game and I'm look to buy unrefined materials. I know guild stores sell them but I'm not in a guild is there another place or guide to buying and selling raw materials.

There are guild kiosks in every major city, and a few other places. You can buy from the kiosks without being a member of guild.

Best place is in "Zone" chat. Post in there WTB Unrefined Materials paying xxg per item. People do that all the time.

Another alternative is running around and harvesting them. They're not level locked or anything goofy, so even if you run into an area for which you are WOEFULLY underlevel, you can still grab nodes.

There are Guild Kiosks in every city, and near most Wayshrines, so you don't have to be a member of a Guild to buy from a Guild Store. If you open up your map you will see an icon that shows you where the Kiosks are.

Other than farmng them yourself, or buying in zone chat, this is the only other way to get Raw Mats.

I will warn you that raw mats are much more expensive than refined mats, because you have a chance to get Tempers from refining them. So, to save money, buy Refined Materials instead.

If you want to join a guild that does not require you to show up, just be helpful and friendly, then consider Lone Wolf Help. We are a full service guild that gets it's paws into just about everything, but don't require our members to do anything but be reasonably active in the game and helpful to other guildies, if you have the time or inclination.

Send me a message in game and I can get you hooked up with the pack.

Thanks for the help, I've found the guild trader and did a search for materials, is it normal there are only 11 people selling stuff, are the traders all linked or is it local?

11 People selling Refined Mats? Probably. Most people don't sell Unrefined Mats, because of the Tempers they get from refining them *

Or 11 people who have listings in that Guild Kiosk? This happens a little more often than you think, but it is not that common.

We don't have a Global Auction House (that horse is beaten in various threads around here), so guilds are limited to 500 possible sellers, of which only some sell, and some only sell certain things

*(it is one of the 3 ways to get Tempers in the game to upgrade your gear, the others being Crafting Hirelings and then Deconstruction of Improved gear). Of course buying them from someone is the 4th way, but the most expensive way.

They are not linked. Each trader is for a different guild. You have to go to each trader and see what is for sale. Then go to another city and look at the traders there.

Thanks, kinda annoying and cool at the same time, gives the game a less teleporty and realistic feeling.

If you put in the leg work, you can also find some good deals by visiting lots of traders. I wanted a particular ring last night and after visiting about 30 traders, found it at about 10 of those traders with prices ranging from 65,000g to 199,000g. Obviously, I bought it for 65,000g! If there was a global auction house, the item probably would have settled into a price of 120,000g or thereabouts and that is that. There would be no need to run all over Tamriel trying to find it, which would be nice, but also no opportunity to comparison shop! :-)

Well talk about the wrong thread... must have had two windows up!

    Sorry about that mis-post!

As for the OP - You can buy from any guild vendor in most of the zones and towns... but they may not have everything you need.

Your next best method is to setup some kind of agreement with a farmer/gatherer to pay them for whatever they send you. I had that going with a few people.

There are 7 Guild Traders in each of the Capital Cities of the 3 factions. There are 5 Guild Traders in each Major City of all the other zones. In addition there are single Guild Traders Scattered around, some in small cities and some randomly in the middle of nowhere along a road. So that gives you something like 90-100 Guild Traders to shop at if you spend the time jumping around!

I am usually harvesting and doing writs. When you do writ you can get survey and it will give you increased amount of raw mats. I also have a champ passive which increases the raw mats by a factor of 2 with 10% chance, which helps too :) For me it is better to quickly sell raw mats for 30g ea and buy the ingots/etc for 5-7g ea for writs than play with gold tempers probability (which is at ~5%, so you need tons of raw mats to get some).

That is one of the most awesome Passives in the Champion System. Which means they are going to Nerf it. I mean it makes the Lush Nodes kind of meh as the passive does not seem to process on those Nodes and I frequently get double loads from harvesting normal nodes.

A 10% average increase in yield is not a lot, and certainly not OP. It's just that you remember the double harvests more. Lush nodes always give double yield, which is a 100% increase on average.

I am guessing that the passive has a 10% chance to turn a node into a "lush" node, or at least that is what is happening behind the scenes. For example, I have seen normal nodes give me 7 raw mats now that I have this passive, which is something I see lush nodes do. But I have never seen a normal node give me 3.5 raw mats, which is what would be required if it was truly doubling the existing node quantity as the CP tooltip implies. So while it may be activating on survey nodes 10% of the time, it is essentially turning a lush node into a lush node and has no visible effect.
