Because the game allows DoF (Depth of Field) while talking to NPCs is it possible then that the API can access this feature through an Addon? Not quite sure why Zeni has not added this as a standard feature for players. They're quite keen on immersion in the game and I'm a tad surprised this is not an option.
Or is this something the API is unable to access ?
DoF refers to where the camera is focusing - so basically the focused objects are sharp and the rest is blurred.
Thanks for that.
With VR right around the corner, that sounds like something that would be necessary, perhaps someone looking into building addons to work with one of the different systems might be able to help.
Perhaps there's a huge thread about this feature request elsewhere and I'm posting in the wrong place, but I'd DEARLY LOVE to have a depth of field slider control in the video settings. If this really is the only mention of the DoF feature, I am surprised.
Whenever I've experienced it in other games it's always extra immersive and kinda ..."wondrous" as silly as that may sound. I still fire up Witcher 2 occasionally just to walk around in the little town of Flotsam and enjoy the foggy, deep woods ambiance. I also lingered as long as I could in the Pariah Abbey quest dream part and of course that's what caused me to comment here.
The effect on game immersion is really hard to define, but somehow it reminds me of the "tilt-shift" photographic effect. (Google "tilt-shift images" if you're not familiar!) The shift in focus seems to draw me right in and I find it fascinating.
If there's really so few people asking for it, I don't expect it to ever happen. Regardless I am "officially" requesting the addition of a Depth of Field slider option in the video settings.
