Can a PvE'er Make it in Cyrodiil

I'm getting to the end of the line with Cadwell's Gold, and I'm wondering what to do next. My limited time to play makes it very hard to enjoy grouping. I joined a group not too long ago that wanted to do Shada's Tears and I was told, "It will be quick." Quick was relative, because it took us several hours. I had a lot of fun, but it's hard to set aside that much time in one sitting. But those are my problems, not game problems.

I'm curious if at VR9 I can do any of the PvE content for Cyrodiil. I tried at VR2 and it was a bloodbath for me. I'm looking to do the quests and grab the skyshards. I don't really have a large friend list to help me through it, nor the time to schedule things. Mainly, I'd log in, want to run a quest or two, and log off. Rinse repeat until I finished it. My last dance with this idea, I was just dead, constantly, because people appeared to be camping right near the quest hubs.

Any feedback would be helpful.

You could do cyrodiil PVE at 1.5...vs V5 NPCs.
I believe they are V12 now.
Even 1.6 I found NPCs guards and such more difficult.
Gave up cyodiil in 2.0 after constant stunock/instagibs and lagsploit.
So cant be sure how it will work out now.
I done all quests/dolmens in cyrdodiil from about v8+ at the time.

Yeah, people camping quest hubs isn't new, Perfect World International also had that, you'd die within a hit or two, and you'd keep getting killed about 3-4 times before they either left you alone, or they just kept doing it forever until they logged for the day.

That's one of my worst PVP Experiences. (I have more, hence why I absolutely hate PVP.)

It depends on the campaign, on a good day you can get quite a few quests, delves and skyshards done without issue, however there's always the risk of someone camping in a delve or a quest hub. And then there's the huge distance between hubs and whether your faction has access to keeps.

Also choosing campaigns is a bit more tricky than it used to be with end of campaign rerolls, for example 30 days ago azura's star on EU used to be EP dominated now it's DC. The only campaign that is faction balanced is thornblade only due to it being packed to the brim with players which you may not want for PvE.

And that's the maain reason I hated Tyria Map Completion in Guild Wars 2, since it required the map completion for World Versus World. I had to wait for a map change in order to get anything done in one map.

The V12 mobs aren't a problem at all, you scale up. I did all cyrodill content on V1 with my alt.

Yes if you run into some gankers/campers/V14 you're in trouble obviously.

Try to sneak into quest zones to spot if you are alone. (You are actually invisible in sneak mode). Grab the quest real quick and go back into sneak. Especially in enemy towns.

You'll die here and there obviously it's pvp. But towns and delves, dolmens aren't overly populated or camped often. I run these repeatable quests very often and I don't run into enemies that much.

Also if you are in EP, EU, I'd gladly go with you to help. Most gankers are lowbies, better said 2 shot kills for my main :p

    Pm me for contact.

I solo PvE content in Cyrodil all the time. And it is even more fun if you get in a group and do it. So go ahead and do it. I think you will have fun with it.

Things are the same with this game, Tamriel Skyshard Hunter for instance requires you get the skyshards not only in enemy faction territory but the ones at enemy scrolls as well. You are literally required to PvP in order to complete what is largely a PvE achievement.

I came to Cyrodiil at V1 and haven't left. I'm now V3 in roughly 2 weeks or so. I have zero problems with mobs.

As far ass people go, when you get your butt kicked, pay attention to what went wrong, and what you could've done differently to come out on top.

Eventually, you'll get your butt kicked enough to where you learn how to not get your but kicked any more.

    Good luck.

"EP EU" That's the reason you're so lucky actually. NA Users LOVE ganking, that's why the west is so full of PVP Games. I hate PVP, even if I am from the west... it's just not me.

You don't have to pvp to get them, however you need some patience. Just check out when the gate opens run in. Go into sneak mode and wait.

Either they get the scroll and the enemies will massively run after them. Or they lose and the gates close, meaning it will be safe as well.

They are just the hardest ones to get. That really makes it an achievement.

Oh yeh and don't forget. Players who prefer pvp have to go trough a huge huge huge amount of pve to get those skill points.

I was able to solo delves in Cyro on my lvl 24 nightblade, but I'm a PvP veteran and I set up my buid to be able to do PvE as well as the random PvP encounter.

It's really about situation awareness, and not button mashing when you do find an enemy player.

Sometimes they'll just let you go by, they don't want to fight also! [Sometimes.... SOMETIMES....]

It's also good to know what other class skills do in this instance, so you can try and read them like you read bosses. But remember it's not an AI back there, and they're prone to mistakes too =3

Just pick a campaign that's a buff server. If it's not your faction, it'll be harder to traverse but should have less people. While moving on horse avoid riding through large towns like Bruma as that's a quest hotspot. Don't ride along a 'lock path' if there's action going on, as PvPers will be moving to and fro near those lines and gankers will camp there.

You can definitely do it. I don't PVP, and I almost never go into Cyrodiil except every now and then to grab a skyshard. Last night, after grabbing a couple of sky shards in the open with a level 38 character, and after fighting a handful of VR12 mobs to do so, I decided that thanks to the battle leveling the mobs weren't as scary as I had thought, so I went and did a delve. The boss that I fought was definitely tougher than the non-Cyrodiil delve bosses I'm used to, but it wasn't that bad. Of course, I then got ganked just as I finished opening a chest, but I had already collected the sky shard in the delve anyway, and was planning on leaving Cyrodiil, so getting killed by another player then was actually kind of convenient.

It is possible to do all the pve in Cyrodiil however be prepared to be killed multiple times by players from other factions and forced to run all the way back across the map
That which we obtain to cheap we esteem to lightly, it is dearness only that gives everything its value.

I did them all solo but it took a long time with lots of sneaking. I think it will be much harder now -- ZOS recently added a PvP buff if you go into a delve and kill a boss before you PvP. The result is that many of the delves are now camped with gank squads waiting for people from the other factions to come into the delve to get their buff.

Thought it was an odd thing for ZOS to add. Makes PvE in Cyrodil much harder and less fun for those who don't PvP. And for those who do PvP, the buff only lasts an hour and wastes a lot of time going to a delve to get.

If it's possible, do the quests out of prime time hours. I did 90% of the during late nights and early mornings and only got ganked once. Most people playing at those times are doing the same thing and don't want any action.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm NA/EP, and the last time I tried it was like RAINING DEATH every time I'd sneak around into a quest area. I never could even get to an NPC to trigger the quest it was so bad. But I'll admit, I was playing around 11pm ET, which is likely a heavy PvP time.

I PvP and feel bad about killing people that clearly do not know what they are doing. So when I go into delves in Cyrodiil I give people of the other factions every opportunity to pass by without attacking them. I even sheathed my weapon and tried to walk past a guy who looked scared because he initially tried to run away a month ago but he attacked me after I sheathed my weapon (jerk move in my book) so I killed him. There are people out there that will be willing to walk past without a fight or to do a dolmen together but from my experience most people want to attack you if they see you in a delve so beware OP.

The Cyrodiil dailies are no nonsense affairs. You get four quests per NPC at quest hubs, each issuing the same quest spiel - no story really, no dramatic pauses as the voice actor delivers the text. These are just bread and butter XP machines designed for people who want to live in Cyrodiil.

They feel dreary but they get the job done.

And, yes, the normal rules apply. Good players seek challenges, not easy victims. Folks camping these things have to be bored or desperate or both. If they have friends with them then pity the desolation of their existence. Solo, most flee if you fight.

I'm a mediocre player at best and had few problems other than getting tired of those quests and all the riding to get to the hubs.

I had a pretty easy time of it when I did the Cyrodiil PvE content, but I stuck to a buff campaign so there wasn't a lot of opposition. It looks like EP has given up on holding a buff campaign.

    http://esostats.com/

As others have mentioned, getting ganked is possible, it's just something you have to accept. Take indirect routes to your objectives, and sneak when you get close. You'll probably still get ganked from time to time, I know I ganked a few people on the rare occasions when I would bump into them while doing Cyrodiil PvE, it's just an extra challenge to the content.

The other thing to watch out for is the trash mob patterns are a little different. In the regular PvE content, you run into groups of 1-3 mobs at a time and that's about it. Sometimes in those 1-3 mobs you'll have a summoner that pulls a fourth, but the formula is 1-3. In Cyrodiil *some* of the mobs run larger overlapping patterns, and depending on where you do the pull you can pull anywhere from 1-6 of them. Not overly difficult, but if you're only used to fighting 1-3 at a time it could take a bit to adapt. If you solo group content, should be a walk in the park.

Sorry to necro a thread... well, it is from this year at least. ;)

I'm wondering, in regards to the PC side, what would be the best campaign choice for an AD player looking to PvE for Skyshards, Lorebooks, etc? Also, what would be the suggested level for even attempting to venture into Cyrodiil?

    Thanks.

Right now, I'd jump into Thornblade if you want your skyshards and lorebooks. It's been yellow for at least a week.

VR1 would be my suggestion on a good time to enter Cyrodiil.
