Hireling Gold/Yellow Drop Rate

There may be a post about this already, I've read they nerfed it and supposedly compensated the change with raw materials which is ambiguous to say the least but with 16 characters (2 accounts) with 3/3 Woodworking/Blacksmithing/Clothier I have yet to recieve a single yellow/gold mat since I started playing again with Tamriel Unlimited release. Has anyone? Or did they completely remove the drop chance?

I have gotten the occasional Gold Temper. Ironically, it was from my lower level mules with L2 Hirelings. My L3 Hirelings tend to give me multiples of Purples, 4 of them in one email is not uncommon. Although, one of my L3 Hirelings coughed up 2 Golds this week. But it is way down from pre 1.6

However, for all intents and purposes, Hirelings are for Green, Blue and Purple Tempers now. Golds come from refining raw mats and Equipment Crafting Writs. However neither of those are offering up Gold Tempers like you would expect given the hireling nerf.

They increased the chance to get gold matts when completing a craftinh writ which I can say it was a big increase from before. Also supposedly an increase in getting purple and gold from refining raw matts.

And I still get gold matts from hirelings. Especially with enchanting.

Hmm, all 16 of my characters have all of the hirelings at 2/3 (I don't see a point in upgrading to 3/3 as I'm realistically not going to log on every 12 hours to collect hireling mail), and since 1.6 between all 64 hireling mails I get daily (not counting the provisioning hirelings, as there are no gold mats for them to provide) I seem to average about 1 gold mat every day or every other day.

Its definitely changed, I didn't get gold mats from extracting materials since I came back for the B2P. It wasn't until I put max points in extracting that I finally started to see gold mats. I remember at launch you could get these even if you had 1 point in it. As far as the writs go, I have gotten 1 Kuta and that's it. Its been a huge loss in most cases when I do the writs. The only one where its even beneficial is the enchanting one because its extremely horrible to level in the first place due to lack of enchanting nodes. The crazy part on that is as soon as I hit V1 and did the other factions zone I started to see tons of enchanting nodes. That definitely needs to change. I get that they want stuff rare but I should not have to save every single gold temper since the account creation just to have a chance to improve an item to gold. I feel I should have more than enough to make 1 item.

I do. I log on at breakfast and at dinner. About twice a week I'll be too busy at those times (tabletop gaming or in the CBD) and it resets from "log on creep". As it happens I also log on to the forums at breakfast and dinner since they are a form of entertainment not requiring time specific attention.

Yes, the nerf was somewhere between 75% and 90% in gold drop rates. It is frankly difficult to tell as the drop numbers are now so low. Presumably ZOS did not think they needed hirelings anymore as a daily log in incentive as they have enlightenment and simultaneously wanted to incentivize writs which nobody did. I am not sure why they boosted refining as it only even had incentivized botting. Maybe with the justice system making botting for recipies impossible they felt the botters needed compensation

In all seriousness, it is not worth time and effort to create multiple hirelings anymore. I no longer log in for mine and only pick them up when it's horse feeding time.

today I completed all 3 types of crafting wits, and got a gold temper i them all.

they made things so you actually have to work for it, and keep working for it in the future, so its not just working on getting the hirelings anymore.

writs seem to be the new way to get gold, at least for enchanting. I have gotten at least purple on enchanting hireling, not sure about gold.
I don't use the hirelings for others then enchanting and provisioning.

Reason for the rareity of the those legendary drops are people exploited the things by the 100's in the beginning.

You can thank the exploiters for this one.

They said they did this, but I don't really believe them. Perhaps for the clothing line, but for the Woodworking and Blacksmithing my Gold Mats from refining has actually gone down. I used to get at least 5 Gold mats/1000 raw mats refined. Now I am lucky if I get 3.

This has made it twice as hard now to get the Tempering Alloys I need to upgrade my Armor when I make for my V14 character.
