Returning Players Need Help

Hey guys, started playing during beta and then early access, endured the launch pains, fell in love with the game, led a guild, played it out till VR4, post 50+ felt really hollow and I eventually left ESO for greener pastures. But lately I've had the major nostalgia bug, and with no sub I've been poking around to see if I can fall in love again.

That said, me (and probably others as well) are coming back after 6 or 9 months with very little clue about what's changed and what to do now. I saw the champion point system ok cool, uhh not sure what crafting certification is for. What should I be doing at VR4 now? Should I still be doing the "other factions" or do I have options?

Any helpful tips or information you can give to returning players like me who are like "We're back, what do we do now?"

PS. ZOS maybe this will be helpful to you guys. I can't be the only one, maybe you guys can find a good/better way to get us up to speed via in-game video, tool-tips, etc. Just a thought.

I am sorry to say that, but the Veteran Content is still the worst part of the game. Nothing changed there besides the fact you earn less XP.

They implemented Upper Craglorn in September, I don't know if you already know that place.

The Veteran grind is still there, you still have to either finish the opposing factions or grind your way to VR14 in Craglorn.

There is no amount of reply that will get you caught up. You're going to have to experience it.

You can look over the patch note updates for the basics, but it's not going to be a substitute for experiencing it.game

Most of the new systems in place (if you have not yet experienced them) have tutorials/pop-ups with them.

Play the game, as you always have and we can go from there.
Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

    Earn it.

IRL'ing for a while for assorted reasons, in forum, and in game.

^^ That's pretty much it. Grind to V14 and with more difficulty then before you left, Grind for Champion Points. No new content. You can be a thief though and play cat and mouse with guards, that's something I supoose
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

I will answer two of your questions rather than just giving complaints about the game.

Anyway, if you have a VR4 character, do the quests in Caldwell's Silver and Gold. While Enlightened you can pick up 3 or 4 CPs in an evening of questing.

Crafting Writs are a way to either get crafting supplies and or crafting experience (inspiration). It is also a good source of Tempers and Recipes. Consumable Crafting writs are great in that you get back more than you put in, Equipment Crafting is good as you get a chance to get some Nirncrux (9th Trait Gem) but you put in more materials than you get back.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Nestor answered the crafting writs question, so I'll focus on the "What should I be doing at VR4?"

What do you want to be doing? Do you like PvP? Do you want to do the Undaunted daily pledges? Do you want to do the PvE in Cyrodiil? The Craglorn questlines and dailies?

It really is up to you. Do what you enjoy and leveling will come naturally.
