ESO steam code question

I'm having no luck getting my questioned answered by neither the support team nor the general help forum, so I will try here instead!

Back when ESO was released on steam I bought a digital Imperial Edition from there, yet I never actually used the game code. I now wish to ask a question regarding this code:

Can I give this game code (Purchased from Steam) to my friend, so she can play the game from the NORMAL Elder Scrolls Online launcher? OR is steam required to play the game with a steam game code?

Also, I Crowns are not purchaseable normally if you have a Steam account. Does that mean, if the code is given to my friend, that I have to go in and purchase ESO crowns through steam, and then give that ESO crowns code to her so she can use it on her account? Or can she still go in and purchase the crowns normally through the account page?

There is a thread floating around here about Gifting Crowns.Bascially, you can't buy them as a gift, but Gift Cards maybe offered in the future.

As for Steam, they don't co-mingle. If you have codes for Steam, then that is how they have to be used, through Steam. By that I mean you get them through Steam. You still have to redeem them at ZOS. Your friend can get the Imperial Edition through the Crown Store (think I saw it in there), and I believe you can still buy the upgrade through the ZOS store and get the codes that way for the non Steam game.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

But Steam literally game me a game code which I must use on the official ESO site?

That is exactly how I had to redeem my Steam Code for my account. You redeem it on the ESO website after making an account. It kind of weird how it works. You can play using the non-Steam install of the game with a Steam Code account. However, you cannot buy Crowns directly from the Crown store on the ESO website if you have an account that was created with a Steam Code - you have to buy through Steam.

Alright thank you very much! That clears it up!

Though to you then, I have one last question if I may; When you buy crowns, do you then get another code you need to redeem? (So I can buy the codes and then give them to her so she can redeem them on the ESO page)

Yes, when you buy Crowns from Steam, you get yet another code each time that must be redeemed on the ESO website. It is a pain sometimes.

I brought the game from ESO, then later on I wanted it linked to steam so I rebrought the game cheap on Steam.

So my game is linked to steam and the second key from Steam I gave to a mate who used it (and never use steam, just downloaded the game directly and does not have steam installed)
The code is 'almost' like any other ESO key.

The only different is the key from steam, you can not buy crowns via the ESO website (at the momnet) you have to buy them from steam, but I believe the dev's said they are looking at linking ESO to Steam wallet and then this will not be an issue.

So your friend you give your steam ESO key too, if they want crowns, you will have to buy the crowns via steam for them and send them the 'crowns' key so they can apply that to their account
