Can anyone help me to get some good looking NPC clothing for male character? I trying do it every day but not happy. Have some pieces for the trade. What is the best way to get it? City? Place with many containers?

I play on NA server, Daggerfall Covenant now.

P.S. Or can I buy it from guild stores?

According to the patch notes from the newest update, clothing can be found in wardrobes and dressers and any other container where a person might logically keep clothing. These containers will almost certainly be owned, meaning that you'll have to steal them.

The quality of the item will be consistent with the sort of neighborhood you're in, so don't expect to find fancy clothing in a slum area or a shack. Look for the big houses where the nobility live.

It might be possible to steal clothing by picking pockets, although I don't know. If it is, then a nobleman would have better clothing than a person raking leaves or living in a shack.

Big cities will have more big houses and more places to steal from.

Also, remember that you can dye stolen clothing for a more pleasing appearance.

I've had very poor luck trying to find clothing in Daggerfall, I think because it's a small city so there aren't a huge number of options and I've been avoiding the locked houses because of the additional hassle of picking the lock without being seen and the risk of an NPC being inside. Plus there's loads of people around since the subscription was dropped which reduces the chance of me being the one to find the items I'm after.

But from what I've seen what can be in any given container is pretty random, unless it's something specific like a basket of apples. A wardrobe could have clothing in, but it could also have armour or weapons or a motif, or one of the random items that are only useful for selling to a fence.

Actually, container contents are specific to you. Everyone on the server could theoretically be in the same building looting containers, and everyone would get stuff (randomly based on the container loot tables).

Also, going into locked houses is probably your best bet for finding this type of thing. As long as you don't get caught picking the lock to the house, you're not going to get a bounty just for going in, even if there's an NPC who sees you inside and tells you to stop trespassing. There are also no guards inside houses, so if you happen to be seen while actually looting, you at least won't run the risk of being arrested until you step outside again.

Commonly I trying to find clothing in Daggerfall castle or Rosy Lions Inn (tavern). There are enough containers like dressers or wardrobes or nightstands. Then I can go to ships in both ports.

I used the SwineHerder Breeches and the Smugglers Vest with some light armor shoes on my mules for a long time. After they were dyed, they looked quite well.

Also, remember you can dye the Vanity Clothing you can find from the Justice System. So, that can change the look of the clothing too. I have no idea about the ones you buy from the crown store.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.
