cannot chase after enemies or ride to keeps because we cannot mount in combat: WHY?

@ZOS_BrianWheeler why are we still not allowed to mount while in combat mode? is there a practical reason for this to be happening in pvp?

Not only this, But being stuck in "combat" after over 30 seconds has passed since any attacks were made prevents players from 'stealthing' as well. This makes playing as a "stealthy" NB impossible and impractical, unless you want to dish out gold for invisible potions, which work 50% of the time when used.

This is yet another issue that ZOS needs to address, and has for a year now.

The whole system that determines whether you are in / out of combat needs an overhaul. It's more then just mounts. It also stops you from using transit between keeps, swapping gear / abilities, and stealth mechanic. You shouldn't be able to do those things in the middle of a fight, but you shouldn't be stopped from doing them 5 minutes after one.

And then on top of this being stuck in combat for over 30 seconds there is the being stuck in combat even after respawning at a keep which takes up time from getting back into battle and being useful and does not allow you to use the transitus shrines if you had to get back to an outpost before it flagged as an example

if we could at least mount horses while in combat mode, that would solve a lot of problems

if a player wants to take the risk of being knocked off horse (or stunned on horseback, which is worse) then they deserve a chance to chase down infinite bolt sorcs or ride to a keep before it flips

You shouldn't be able to do those things in the middle of a fight, but you shouldn't be stopped from doing them 5 minutes after one.

Im no technician or anything, but what surprised me is that I've already seen aspects of this in game. With earthen heart abilities that build ultimate on use, I've looked at it and it's only worked (because you're not supposed to be able to build ultimate out of combat now) within seconds of attacking a player or being attacked, even if Im in combat according to the game, but not actually fighting, Im not able to build ultimate off of these abilities.

When I look at what I mentioned above it makes me wonder why the same thing can't be put in place for combat as a whole. Of course it should last for more than a few seconds to prevent continuously dropping into stealth, but I'd think 5-10 seconds after not being hit/hitting another player should count as not being in combat. Or maybe slightly more to prevent snipers from constantly stealth critting people <- See how its always the snipers that cause the problems...

This is all related I guess to the lag and related performance issues. With the increased populations I expect "being stuck in combat" in PvP is going to be the next big cause for many of us since it's just going to get worse.

I agree. Not like being on a horse is the best place to be in a fight. You are set to be very vulnerable.

I would say you've hit the nail on the head here. Unless they undo the nerf to bold escape that happened quite a while ago, the sorc bolt escape (and the whole sorc concept of being elusive and not tanky) is the reason you can't mount in combat.

HAVING SAID THAT (as a sorc): I would rather still be able to mount in combat, being locked out of mounting until I run half way across the map is increadibly annoying.

Also, getting into combat should be a personal thing not a group thing. If some guy in the group rides over a wolf, putting him in combat, it should not spread to the whole group like some kind of disease.

I had to log out twice this weekend just to get ooc. Well alt-f4 rather.

With so many threads about this why is it not getting any attention not even a reply? Is it a physics engine problem or something?

I know that healing effects after a battle prevents some players from mounting after because somehow its still considering it as still in combat which i don't understand why and as you said, is there even a practical reason for it?

the bug version of this also interferes with:

    using transit networks
being a stealth oriented player(sithis help someone if this occurs and they are not a NB with cloak)

unable to mount despite being literally MILES away from the enemy

    and other issues

we should be able to mount in combat. it would not be OP in any way at all and would make for some interesting play styles.

Right now I think they're busy either on the product listing for the stupid crown store or trying to fix bugs in the console version. The PC crowd is going to be on the proverbial "short end of the stick" for quite some time.
