Veteran Dungeons...

So yeah.... as a new V1, I really shouldn't bother running vet dungeons for a while?

3+ hours on one dungeon, with 2 separate parties, with a V13 in the second party, dungeon scaled to V1... get wrecked. Disband. Repeat.

Only way to do these things is to get carried by people that are way over level. I don't mind hard, but these things are just ridiculous after strolling through the campaign.

    I know the feeling.

What helped me is I found a group of people in my guild and we started doing dungeons together. We then had a more experienced player walk us through what seems to be the "easiest" vet dungeon... Way rest Sewers. We completed it on our own the next day, and many days after. Team speak was also a huge factor, it was easiest to work together when you could hear someone was dead, then someone could yell they are ressurecting so the healer could focus there. I still have only completed 3 of the vet dungeons (more than once each) but we have gotten leaps and bounds better. When you're new to an area, I think having a group you know helps a lot. You kind of get a feeling for where they will move, who needs heals when, and what each other is likely to do next.

TLDR; get a group who you always run with. Use a voice server. Try Wayrest Sewers first. Get 1 experienced player to walk you through once.

    Not necessarily.

Make sure you have halfway decent gear, a lot of new VRs will still have on a bunch of old quest gear, which won't cut it anymore.

At least a general idea of the mechanics is also a good idea. Deltia has a bunch of guides here.

Yes, learning the dungeon is really important. I use Deltias guides and they are great

Are you on NA or EU? I have a toon hitting v1 on Monday. Maybe we can do a run together.

Just tried a vr7 hard dungeon. As a vr2 vampire dk healer. I only got some blue and green gear it was interesting!

Never done the dungeon sewers I think. Wiped sometimes in boss but when I knew the mechanics is was easyer!

Veteran Dungeons are about ten times harder then a normal. I was able to do them as a healer at VR1-3 and a couple times as a tank but it was with higher level VR's with the dungeon scaled to my level. The disadvantage to this particularly as a healer is you rarely get loot. But if you are just looking to tag along for a gold key it is possible. Unless you can get a dedicated group or be lucky enough to get into one with higher level VR's I would stick with Normal for the moment.

Doing vet dungeons since v1, most of time no problems, bad groups sometimes happens but not so often.

As someone mentioned earlier, gear is likely the culprit. If you're going to run vet dungeons, you definitely need to get some set gear (crafted or looted). But without those set bonuses, your group will be at a severe disadvantage.
