2 Handed Weapons and Bow Damage Values.

Hey guys,
I just wanted to ask about your opinion regarding the 2H weapon and bow damage values.
I personally think they are very low, compared to one handed weapons.
2h handed and bows usually get 100-150 more damage value than any other one handed counterparts, which feels weird.... for example if an 1 handed sword has 500 damage (so while dual wielding it would give you 1000 damage) , would not be only reasonable for a 2handed weapon of the same level to have at least 1000 damage, if not more?

ZOS should consider quiver's with finite arrows and up the damage and chances to miss dependent on DEX.

Dual weild with 2 swords gives you about the same dmg output as a 2h greatsword of same level and quality as far as i know. Try it. Equip dual wield and press C to look at ur chars dmg. Then equip 2h and compare.

Yes but my point is that a 2handed weapon should have more raw damage values than dual wielding imo.
2handed weapons are much slower to attack with , while dual wielding on the other hand is very fast and some times the attacks are almost instant.

i dont mind that 2h weaps are slower , after all its reasonable. but I feel that 2h wielding should be hitting harder than dual wielding.

I use both a bow and 2H on my main. And while there is a certain logic to what you are saying I'm pretty much of the mind that bows and 2H damage pretty much fine where it is. They are already the weapons of choice for most PvP'rs atm.

I get your point, but 2h abilities are great now. I prefer them more then dual wield. Critical charge, cleave with shield morph, and momentum are extremely powerful. I have a new Dk alt with 2H because it offers mobility with the crit charge (dual wield alone has no mobility) and momentum + inferno morph together gives insane power and crit boost. In my build 2h is way better. If it gets buffed ill become even more Op. And atm I oneshot almost anything already.

I see. I also use a 2h and a bow myself but have not done any pvp yet, but i think those would be my weapons of choice for it too.

This is not how it works. Understand first how the game works then come here to "suggest" things. But it is ok if you come here to ask things from experienced players.....rather than suggesting stuff full of ignorance.

*rolls eyes* In lighter, more reasonable, and less bigoted terms: despite the difference in weapon damage on the tooltips and the character sheet and the difference in weapon swing speeds, it balances out fairly well between the weapons. In fact, 2H and Bow are both often considered stronger than DW. DW is currently more like a "support" weapon type used for its bleeds and effects in conjunction with a weapon with more up-front staying power such as 2H or Bow.

You are correct. Apparently the mechanics on this subject are different than what logic dictates. So since i got it wrong how about helping me understand how it actually works instead of being a *** about it?
    Just saying.

Thank you for your helpful comment. I am feeling the same way about DW. Although i swear i read DW being one of the top melee choices pre patch.. did they really change the weapon balance so much?

I can speak from pve NB perspective . They changed balance and now difference between 2h and dw is marginaly in 2h favor regarding raw dps output but as far i see dw dps is more sustainable from stamina management perspective at this level of CP.

I'm not really sure on the exact reasons for the flip in what is better and worse, but I believe it has a lot to do with Wrecking Blow. The buff it gives - a large chunk of bonus damage on next attack - now works even on a follow-up Wrecking Blow. Previously, it gave a bonus to every attack except Wrecking Blow, but with the changes to how buffs work, that was changed as well. Also, Momentum now applies to all Weapon attacks and skills rather than just 2H weapon attacks and skills, making it an easily sustainable across-the-board 20% DPS increase for almost-pure Stamina builds.

I've heard that even just spamming Wrecking Blow can cause some pretty nasty DPS, if you have enough Stamina Regeneration.

Bow has always been fairly potent. Snipe's cast time was reduced, making spamming it in certain situations more effective, but I can't imagine that changed all too much.

All in all, it could also be the change in stamina costs in 1.6 (alongside all the other number differences). I don't know for sure, but all my abilities certainly seem to cost much less than previously. It feels like I can spam them for much longer, now. This would push spammable one-hit direct-damage abilities ahead of channeling abilities like that one from the DW weapon skill line. While the channel one may have been better previously due to its higher cast time (thus meaning greater Stamina efficiency due to more stamina recovering before you can use it again), if the costs of abilities did go down as I seem to feel, then the quick back-to-back spamming of Wrecking Blow/Snipe wouldn't cause a huge Stamina shortage anymore.

All of this is just conjecture, though.

2H damage should actually be nerfed. I can almost 1 shot cloth wearing world bosses from stealth in vet zones sometimes. Every other NPC is an auto 1 shot from stealth.

    Wrecking Blow is *** OP.

Dual wielding two 500 damage one-handed swords does not give you 1000 damage. You only get a small percentage of the offhand weapon. It's similar to the damage value of a two-handed weapon.
