Without patching myself (on my way to work) - the only think I can think is check the Version number at the bottom of the login screen. Sometimes it doesn't patch right and you can get past the launcher without actually having the right version. If it's not 2.0.2{whatever} it will fail login and the news won't always work.
Hrm...I'd guess by the lack of utter rage and whining on the forums - the EU servers are likely fine.
Have you done the reboot cycle? Computer / router / modem? (Assuming yes, but always safe to check.)
I'm assuming you mean this fix?

Or some other?

Perhaps the log in server was at capacity ?
Try again
Hey there @james_vestbergb16_ESO,
We know it's an old classic, but have you tried a repair just yet? If not, please give it a shot and let us know if it helps. To do that, close the game and open the launcher. Select Game Options above the news articles, and choose Repair from the drop down.
Hey there @james_vestbergb16_ESO,
Plenty of folks are hopping on to EU without issues, so we'd just like to be sure all the basics are covered before raising the alarm bells, so to speak. Error 201 and 301 indicate a connectivity issue, which is generally client-side, hence starting with a bit of troubleshooting first.
In order to prevent repeat suggestions, here's the stuff you've tried in the thread so far:
- Restart router/PC (bear in mind that while these may seem so silly that they're skippable, it honestly solves 201 pretty frequently)
- Clean boot
- Repair
- Deleted Documents folder
Most often, we see this occur after an update based on an anti-virus or firewall program blocking the connection. If you happen to have an anti-virus/firewall program running, please give a try to temporarily disabling it and give a shot to running ESO. If it works, please be sure to add an exception to your anti-virus for the ESO folder, then enable the program again.
If that doesn't work, please let us know and we'll be happy to continue helping!I'll definitely take a look into True Detective, seems right up my alley.
