Immortality in PvE? Which builds are able to solo group dungeons?

I love ESO's extreme build customizability, and I'd love to create a character that is basically immortal in PvE: unkillable, and the winning strategy is to wait for my opponents to die of either boredom or old age.

What classes and builds can achieve this? The litmus test is the ability to solo same-level group dungeons.

Check out my "Electric Turtle" build for Sorcs. I'm sure this strategy could be adapted for any class.

Be advised extremely "tanky" regen builds are only really good for solo PVE. In group play, the low DPS will *** off the other players, who may not want to wait around for you to grind down mobs at 2500 DPS, LOL. Also, this build has problems with "DPS race" bosses with enrage timers, so you will want to have a traditional DPS gear + skill bar for those.

I don't have much trouble soloing normal mode group dungeons with this build at VR14, and I've made significant progress with the veteran mode dungeons. Anyway, here is a proof shot of my Electric Turtle after killing the first boss and several waves of mobs in Veteran Spindleclutch:



In this next shot, I was doing well against Blood Spawn until his enrage timer went off at around 80% health, at which point I was insta-gibbed.

My highest character just so happens to be a Sorcerer.

I personally use a high regen build myself, though in group content i have little trouble with it since i function as the group healer, rather than as a DPS.

I'm a Templar (Argonian).
What i use is 7/7 heavy armor + 1h and shield.
5/5 willows path, 4/5 seducer (all parts have Mundus trait), with the Atronach mundus stone.

Fighting bar (1h and shield)
- Puncturing Sweep.
- Purifying Light.
- Honor the Dead
- Repentance
- Restoring Focus.
Ultimate: Empowering Sweep

Healing bar (Also 1h and Shield).
- Ritual of Rebirth.
- Purifying Ritual
- Honor the Dead
- Repentance
- Restoring Focus.
Ultimate: Practiced Incarnation.

With the use of a Magicka regen drink i can get 2K+ magicka regen, which will get you through 95% off the fights without running out of magicka. Tougher enemies can be fought using Restoring focus (extra defense + extra magicka regen) and Purifying Light (extra healing + a bit of bonus damage).

Ritual of Rebirth might sound bad as a healing skill, but with the amount of regen i have i can generate enough ultimate during a fight to use Practiced incarnation before my magicka runs out by spamming Ritual of Rebirth. The high amount of armor i have and the heals it gives (around 8K for me, 10K+ when Purifying Ritual is active) i can just stand within an enemy group without dying. When everything goes wrong you can just block and use Honor the dead to keep everyone alive until your team has taken the heat off of you.

@Fizzlewizzle , thanks for the reply! I've read/heard that Templars are very powerful. Do you know if your build is able to solo group dungeons? I'm guessing yes, since you mentioned that you're able to stand in an enemy group without dying; however, are you able to DPS during that time, to eventually reach a victory?

@Emma_Eunjung , I read somewhere that the Sorcerer shields scale off of max magicka, and that they are applied without taking in to account armor or spell resist. It would be interesting to see if a Light Armor build, spamming one of the shields, could achieve the same level of survivability as a Heavy Armor build.

When you talk about whole groups... it can be a bit difficult, especially if they run around a lot (which forces you out of the Restoring focus). For easy solo group runs i use another build.

100% Health (4/5 orgnum scales and 4/5 deadwind, all with health enchantments).
Restoration staff heavy attack + Channeled focus + Blazing shield.
(Heaving Structured Entropy on your bar helps with the damage).


I'm VR11, all equipment is white.
Didn't use extra HP food, but still got 31K HP.
Heavy attacks are just to keep your magicka bar full so you can keep using Blazing shield.

Two thing i didn't have but can be useful:
Vampire: Devouring Swarm (Easy healing skill, that way you don't need a real healing skill on your bar).
And maybe Magelight, for extra crit chances + a bit extra magicka.
(I can hit 5K normal damage and 5.7K crits when bubble pops)

The problem with shield spamming is that it isn't that great for long fights... I always run out of Magicka whenever I try it. The "Empowered Ward" spell just costs too much Magicka! Most of the talk you hear about "shield spamming" Sorcs is related to PvP combat, where the fights are usually pretty short.

My other beef with Ward type shields is that they cause my favorite Light Armor set to totally fail: the Desert Rose 5 pc. set bonus relies on damage TAKEN to return Magicka. The shield absorbs all the damage so Desert Rose doesn't return any Magicka until the shield fails and you're already dead, LOL.

Templar with heavy armor, magicka build, Channeled Focus/Immovable, restoration staff + 1H & shield (for blocking heavy attacks), Puncturing Sweep and Force Siphon.

Puncturing Sweep heals for 40% of damage done, and each jab triggers the recently upgraded Force Siphon heal, each heal can also crit, meaning you go back to full health with each cast, and at the same time do a ton of damage. The only thing that can kill you with this, is an attack that takes all your health at once, so just make sure you have enough health points to survive single-hit dungeon boss attacks.

I was able to solo group dungeons starting at level 12 with an orc DK built around health regeneration. Heavy armor, 2H sword, 5/5 orgnum's scales 3/5 vampire's kiss, everything in health, all enchants health and health regen. Wrecking blow, brawler, critical rush, razor armor, blood altar. (keep in mind that i was level 12, so no GDB or rally or even secondary weapon set)

Fight was alternating heavy attack with either wrecking blow or brawler, depending on whether it was against a swarm or against solo boss. Keep blood altar up and you will naturally regenerate health faster than the mobs can damage you. No heals needed.

With this i soloed all tier 1, tier 2 and tier 3 dungeons (up to crypt of hearts etc.) After that i got bored of it but i see no reason why it shouldn't work for all dungeons except those that force you to have a groupmate through mechanics (stand on two pressure plates at once etc.)
