Took writ and I dont have one of the recipes. It wants me to make chicken breast. I thought it only gives you recipes to do that you actually have. I triple checked and I dont have it.

u can always abandon it, i did it once on some enchanting writ where my skills were much higher than the low stone required..
a minute later got a new writ which was updated to current level.

kk, I will try that then. Cuz as far as I know there is no such thing as chicken breast recipe. There is breast chicken that you can buy from npc but thats it and its a white food item and it didnt count.

Looks like you got that solved, just FYI yes there is a recipe for it, check some guild stores.

I have 4 guilds and none of them have it. :/

I believe that unless you increase your provisioning skill rank (the one that lets you use higher level recipes), if you abandon a writ and then try to get a new one from the board, you'll keep getting the same one unless enough time has passed for the daily writs to reset.

And yes, some recipes are far far harder to find than others, so it's not uncommon for people to get stuck on a provisioning writ. If you can't find the recipe for sale for a decent price in a guild store (or the crafted food - you don't have to be the one doing the crafting in order to turn it in and complete the writ, it just has to be crafted by a player rather than dropped or bought from a vendor), then just abandon the writ and try again tomorrow.

Are Provisioning Writ's always one food and one drink?

I'm not wasting my time on any drinks unless they make them stack with food.

From my provisioning experience (LVL 50 with 260+ recipes), there are three recipes for every 5 levels in each basic section. I haven't collected all of the blue and purple recipes but so far they appear to be similar. I suppose the three within each band was a result of merging the three factional recipes that existed before 1.6.
Also, I think the provisioning writs are similar to the undaunted quests and you will get the same one for the day if you abandon it.

If you are stuck and can't find the recipe you need, find a provisioner who knows the recipe. In order to complete the writ, you just need the item in your inventory: it can be crafted by someone else. Ironically, I have often seen the reward of the writ is the recipe you needed for the writ in the first place.

Tip: if you get the ability to make more than one food and drink, keep the extra crafted items for a future writ.

Yeah, I just abandoned the writ and got a new one today because I could not find the recipe and the food was not available either. Shouted for help and got nothing but cricket noise in the back ground.
Thank you to everybody that helped with suggestions. lol, I ever see that recipe I will learn it on my main provisioning character so I can get 4 per. synth.

There is breast chicken recipe . I am doing this writ for 3-4 times already :) Just check your other alts. Also - writ will give you a task without checking whether you know the recipe or not. This is the beauty of the system :) You have to find the recipe :)

On a related note, the SousChef addon will help will recipe tracking. One of its features is to track recipes known by your alts. It can be configured to display a check mark beside any recipe in your inventory that is not known by current or alt character.

I got the writ for Chicken Breast today too on my beginner cook, first writ ever and yep - can't find Chicken Breast recipe anywhere. Been through all the guild vendors in my faction's main cities, surely it shouldn't be that hard to find a recipe for the very first writ you ever do...

The writs are for recipes linked to your 'recipe level' (not zone or character level), and so depend on skill points spent on that crafting passive - whether you know the recipes or not. All those recipes exist (I know because I've found them all).

If you are on the EU server contact me in game (or PM) and I'll make a batch of what you need.

Yep. Khenarthi's on a list of folks willing to help out. the link to which is in my signature.

I've found it always seems to be the same pairs. Chicken Breast and Mazte, Banana Surprise and Four Eyed Grog or Roast Corn and Red Rye Beer for AD I believe.

For me, on AD Red Rye Beer pairs with Baked Potato. It's funny because on recipe level 1, the writs cycle through those 3 recipe pairs again and again, so all you really need are those 6 recipes (until you get to the next recipe tier...).

Ah yes, Baked Potato, my Bad, I honestly couldn't remember which one it was. It's the EP one that is Roast Corn and Nut Brown Ale. They cycle the recipes at all levels.

Did you buy the White or Green version of the Food/Drink? The White ones don't count for the writ. Only the crafted Green ones, even if they have the same name.

Nestor is right - only if food was crafted, it is Ok for the writ. I tested it while ago. Whatever you will find in boxes, etc, will not cut it...

    Some add-on recipe help:

SousChef, as mentioned, will put a check next to unknown recipes in banks and stores, shows which of your toons knows a recipe.

Master Recipe List shows all recipes, and which ones are known by all your toons.

Master Merchant has a filter for unknown recipes, so your guild stores searches show only unknown recipes.
