Hi guys. Long story short - I have FOUR BANK ALTS (!) and I badly need your help.

I've just come back to the game after a long break. Before I left, I got annoyed with the amount of micromanagement I (felt I) had to do to store my mats.

Now I want to fix it - and enjoy the game - and I'm asking you for help!

I’m going to list below all the things I have. Please help me decide what to do with it all – what to keep, what to sell, what to craft, etc.

Here we go:

    Hi,

In my opinion and for your consideration::
If you enjoy crafting....keep it all!!!....except for provisioning items that are no longer used in game...sell those....if you do not like crafting and just want to play the combat portion of the game...sell everything and buy what you need when you need it.

To truly enjoy this game...you will need all 8 alts....maybe not today...but at some point. Use different alts for crafting...try playing each alt. I have played all 4 types of characters and each is a joy to play in its own way plus it helps you understand these characters and what they are capable of when you decide to go into Cyrodil. Think of your alts as a team...not as individuals.

For example, I have the following alts:-each of these alts is also played like a main alt
Blacksmithing, Clothing, Woodworking-1 alt (also has skill points in deconstruction)
    Provisioning-1 alt
    Alchemy-1 alt
    Enchanting-1 alt
Item improvement with tempers-1 alt (this alt works with the Blacksmithing etc alt to create and destroy items for leveling up Blacksmithing, Clothing and Woodworking (also has skill points in deconstruction).

Many items in game are becoming difficult to get your hands on as the justice system is now in play so acquiring supplies is not what it used to be.

Now if you need gold...do some selling...but I suspect that in the future buying that stuff WHEN you need it will be more expensive...alot of items for sale in guild stores are increasing in price....just look at motifs in particular and to some degree materials.

Get yourself some add-ons to help deal with your stuff.

For things you may want to sell, AwesomeGuildStore and MasterMerchant. These make it much easier to sort and find current prices.
For general organization, AdvancedFilters and InventoryGridView.
Do some searching for good alchemy and enchanting add-ons. I use QuickEnchanter and PotionMaker, but there is no clear must have for this category. For your provisioning, SousChef all the way.

You have a big mix of items, some worthless, some very valuable. It's up to you to use them or sell them.

I just restarted yesterday, it did not take long for me to remember why I quit in the first place...dealing with the inventory is a full time job!!!

There is no way to play the game without constantly having to quit what you are doing and go shuffle inventory items unless you just never pick up anything.

I spent my first day back doing nothing but trying to get enough gold to buy bag slots and bank slots.

The cooking was not even any fun any more since everything used only one item.

If they sold bags and bank slots in the Crown Store, I would buy that just so I could play this game without having my blood pressure go through the roof! LOL!

OK, a couple of things jump out at me. First, why do you have so many motifs? Do you have a plan to create a new crafter who will use them to learn the styles? If not, I'd suggest you sell them at a guild store. Prices seem to be higher now than they were before 1.6, so if they're taking up space in your bag, you might as well sell them.

The same goes for all those iron ingots and jute - are you going to actually use them? If not, sell them in a guild store.

I'd probably hang on to just about everything else you list - with the possible exception being any essence or potency runes that you know you won't use (or you could use those to try to level enchanting on your alts).

I agree with Ourorboros . I'd suggest you get an addon like DataDaedra Shopkeeper or Master Merchant and then join some large trade guilds (if you aren't a member already).

The addons will go through the sales history of guilds you belong to and show you the weighted avg of the items sold. This will give you an idea of what things cost and how common they are.

I'd keep the purple provisioning stuff (Bervez juice and Frost Mirriam) as I've only seen them drop from writ rewards now.

*Stack your mats into 200s, vendor or sell off in chat the ones beyond 200.
*Make up all the purple or blue foods you can or will use, then again if its over 200 get rid of it.
*Use one horse and one alt to get max space, unlock all bag slots, all horse cap.
*All racial books except purples like daedric come easy, no need to keep extras even if you start a new crafter later.
*Start a guild with a couple friends until you have a bank at 10 members, let them know you plan to lock the bank except for yourself or one other...you get 500 slots now.
*My enchanter keeps runes in her inventory and my black smith keeps ores etc, use the characters inventory if needs be.
*Use use use Mail return add-on to bounce or return loot to be sold, recipes to keep or to send runes to your enchanter, ores to your smith, it all goes in mail so you can clear it each day.
*Use your maps up immediately, get those out of inventory. No need to save them.
    Sell, sell,sell.

Get rid of middle-level crafting mats. Keep only the lowest and highest. E.g. if you are VR14 keep iron and void ingots. From iron you can make traits and from void stone the gear at your level. Unless you are actually selling gear, when will you make anything from orichalcum?

You don't have HALF the stuff I do stored in my Bank and I have zero issues with Inventory, especially since 1.6 helped us out a little. The only advice I can give you is pony up the Gold and buy more Bank space and Train Inventory spaces on all your Character's Riding skill until it's 170 each. There is no way at 240 Bank and 170 per Toon that you should have ANY problems with inventory.

EDIT: However, I wouldn't be at all upset if ZoS were to add more spaces to our Bank and personal Inventory, say 300 Bank max and 200 Character max (after all upgrades). It would allow me to hoard even more useless crap than I already do ;)

LoL you and me both DeLindsay. Though buying another game just to have mules seems like an interesting alternative. ;)

get bankmanager and set it to complete stacks on alts, on your main set it to complete stacks in the bank, then distribute the stuff accordingly.

for example I got 4 mules myself (1 for traitgems/stylestone, 1 runes, 1 rare+ items for later, 1 for old crafting mats) - I could probably slim some of that down but I'm a hoarder. ;)
this way I just automatically stack most of my stuff whenever I open the bank, manually move the rest and then log through 2-3 alts once a day to take it out.
it's a temporary workaround anyway till I get more slots.

at the beginning it's low, but in the end you'll have a 170 slot inventory (maxed slots and max riding skill) and 200 (iirc) bank slots. it will take a lot of time and money but it's there.

provision items are taking the largest amount of space, but those come from barrels and crates. just skip those and focus on backpacks etc. haven't looked that close at the provision revamp but before there was lowlvl stuff you could also get rid of if you are maxlvl.
