Imperial

Hey guys,

Is Imperial something you would consider mandatory or is it primarily just fluff. I can get it any time but I'm wondering if it's really necessary.

Really enjoying the game as it is so far , I can't believe how good it is.

Before the mount change in 1.6, I'd say it was very necessary especially if you played more then 1 char. Now? Not so much. The imperial race itself isn't noticeably better then any other race.

As a race option? They're useful but not necessary. Their abilities lend well towards tanking (boosted health, boosted stamina, and % chance for healing on melee attacks).

There's some debate on if they're the best option for tanking. But, they aren't necessary.

EDIT: if you're constantly gaming with your significant other, then the Rings of Mara are really nice, but again, not something you need. UPrime is right about the Imperial Horse, though. Before 1.6 it was an (effectively) free mount for all your characters. But, mounts are account wide now, so if you spend 10k once you're getting the exact same benefit. Pre-1.6 you needed to shell out 17k for each character you wanted a horse on.

Sounds good for a nightblade too - stamina build.

Also for werewolves. Imperial werewolves are freakin' scary. Though, obviously, that's a very specific build.

They're a good choice for stamina DPS (if not the best). Same goes for Tank

Imperial has the best racial stats in the game. With the current changed to Stamina (making more necessary) and the Werewolf passives, it is indeed a competitive build.

Imperials are great, buy it or choose not to.

Dunmer, Nords, and High Elves are also great.

    It's a matter of preference.

I've never played an Imperial in any TES game and I probably never will...

Imperials are a master race. You are worth nothing if you are part of a lesser races.

I have it and for me the main benefit is the horse. Which is less of a bonus now you only need to buy 1 for all your characters, and can get them from the crown store (especially since everyone got free crowns).

I haven't created an Imperial yet, and if I do it's likely to be mainly for crafting imperial gear without buying the motif. Playing as one doesn't really appeal to me.

Oh, the ability to transmute gear into the Imperial style is useful too. I sometimes come across really ugly gear with good stats so having an alternative look is good.

I bought it as well, but I really only use it so that i can have a human race to use use in the Aldmeri Dominion when i so choose, for the imperial style, which is cool, and for the conveniant Horse.
