Question about DLC...

...if we had accounts prior to the F2P, do we get auto access to them? My account wasn't active when it went F2P. Will I need to buy a sub or whatever its going to be called in order to get access to said DLC?

When dlc is released, you get it as a rental as part of your sub ( access to dlc you have not bought goes bye-bye when you unsub ).

If you want to own the dlc and have access to it regardless of sub, then you purchase the dlc with crowns.

I've been muted since November 2017 because of the whiny crybabies on this forum and the liberal ZOS employees coddling them.

Yeah, I am still in doubt what to do. Stay subbed and receive crowns every month with DLC non even close to release. Or unsub, and buy crowns for real money and then buy the DLC. I don't need extra 10% xp/gold/AP.

The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

Well is it like this if you have pay for DLC content you will still have even if you are sub or not for if i reminder what read somewhere on this webpages the you can buy DLC content in crown store for crowns so basic you dont have be sub to get them. But if you are sub you dont have buy you get auto when hit live server just like patch.

I have a not so nice feeling this whole F2P is going to be a mess for this game. I'm not really a fan of F2P, and games that I've played that ARE F2P are a mess to an extent. Take SWTOR for example, you have to pay to unlock the ability to hide your helmet............ I truly hope this doesn't get ridiculous and they keep it at least somewhat reasonable with the crown stuff. I guess I'll wait and see what they add and decide from there if I plan to sub or not. I haven't played in ages even when I did sub so I probably won't sub, or at least until I see a much greater change to the game for the good if such a thing even happens in the future. I can only hope...

Of course we don't know how much DLC will cost, but it's safe to assume it will be less than the game itself, which corresponds to about 3 months of subscription. So if it's longer than three months between DLC releases it's probably more cost effective to buy it when it comes out rather than subscribe.

My tactic ( :) ) is to unsub. Resub for a month when DLC comes out to see if I enjoy it/want to buy it. Unsub after a month and buy the DLC if I want it.

Brilliant! Especially since you get $15 worth of crowns for that one month of subscription... which can be applied to the DLC... simply brilliant.

I also have 4.5K of crowns from my year's subscription - if I can resist the temptation to buy a pet cat, a guar or a wedding dress (and I can) then all that can go to buying DLC too :)

The only downside is that at the expected rate of release of DLC it might be quite a while before I get to spend that 4.5K.

but may be they leave you to buy the DLC with crowns, so if you are subscribed and your spare crowns the shop and go. and also if you got x month subscriptions until you can give them away. I do not think that subscribers have a bad deal for TESO you are a vip players.

Well I can safely say if the toys and things from the crowns store are worth it, this company is one of the ONLY companies I'm willing to drop cash for crowns to buy silly vanity items for. Most of that other F2P korean garbage is horrible, and overly saturates the market for MMO's. I honestly take a step back from the world of MMO's to marvel at where it came from to where it's inevitably going. back in 1996 you didn't have microtransactions, you paid $10, you got access to your MMO, and there were only 2 back then. THOSE were the amazing days of MMOing. Though at some point, microtransactions and "freemium" as it's so often referred, became the choice for MMO's. I honestly can say microtransactions are funky but they are here to stay and are not likely anytime soon to be changed.

There is no reason to sub this game right now.

When Zenimax releases information about DLCs you could think about it, but without any DLC coming in the next ~ 4 months a sub is just wasted money.

Sadly I agree. After reinstalling and checking things out, to me it's the same exact game as it was several monthes ago when I was playing. Granted a few minor changes that I've noticed which I like, the collections section is a nice addition for starters. I have like 1300 crowns and theres like nothing I really care for. I have a mount from the Imperial Edition, plenty of vanity pets, the 2 outfits you get when you reach vr 1 and vr 5. I see no reason to sub right now either.

    :o Seriously?

I have only played a couple MMO's... all being subscription based. I always enjoyed that too.. I get it all. I didn't not realize they honestly put things such as hide helmet in the cash shop! From my understanding SWTOR is completely F2P, not using the B2P model like ESO (or Guild Ware 2 to my understanding) Please ZOS never make me pay for stuff like that. :'(

I'm staying subbed, I still enjoy those small benefits.. and in my mind if I'm not subbing it means I am not playing.. so I have no reason to want access to the DLC when not subbed. I also enjoy the little bit of crowns I do get.. so I can buy fluff. FLUFF. Not actual game mechanics or whatever you would call it.

Question is, what will end up being the cheaper option? staying subbed or paying for DLC packs as they release. Right now i don't see any benefit as a PvP player in staying subbed. Even though i still am currently subbed.

I'm really hoping this game will be more comparable to Guild Wars 2 than any free-to-play game.

IMO they've generally done a really good job with their cash shop. You can easily play the entire game without ever buying anything, but there are quite a few things that are nice to have. Some things I'd like to see in ESO like extra character slots and name change/barbers shop items.

My question is more so where/what direction is the game going? More PvP content, or PvE content or a mix? When I log on I ask myself, what is there to do or what is the ultimate goal? Trials don't come off as true raids and dungeons while fun aren't anything real meaty. We have any form of fulfilling PvE content on the horizon or PvP? I know we have Imperial city but when is that even coming? Haven't heard a single thing about since it was announced awhile ago.

As someone mentioned above, the game is basically in the same state as it was many months ago, content wise. Yes, they have done many face lift type updates for animations/class changes/etc/etc but where is the MEATY content updates? Such as a lot of PvE stuff/end-game type stuff or PvP? Cyrodil has been the same now for awhile. The only thing I am seeing in Cyrodil nowadays are small skirmishes. The massive huge battles are long gone which is a shame.

What essentially, are DLC updates going to have any meaty PvE content or Pvp content? Where are we going with this game...

If you have zero interest in anything from the crown store, I agree. Are there any more loyalty rewards coming, or was the mask the last one?

Until we see the price of DLC, it also might be beneficial to keep your subscription to bank up some crowns to make that first time purchase. I doubt DLC is going to be 1500 or less. My guess is 2000, which will either get 2 months out of subscriptions, or force people into buying extra. It's the smart way to handle microtransactions. Always make the user buy more than they need so they have extra, but never enough to make the next purchase. So that extra makes it look easier to get the next one, where you don't have to spend as much.
