Majestic Weapon, given to me personally by a deity

WARNING: Bad immersion ahead!

So, I do this quest and at the end the god Sithis himself appears before me, and personally rewards me with one of Sithis' fangs, that contain his power. I can tell you, this weapon is majestic! It is powerful, easiest one of the best weapons in the game, because it's a daedric artefact.

Drumroll...

And yes, you saw right! It is sharpened, and it does poison damage! Wow!

Come on ZOS, why do it at all if you do it like this? You could have left out that part in the end. Just give me that Argonian's bow and be done with it. The quest was great, just leave it. You are actually breaking immersion, making the story worse, rather than better this way.

Be practical. If that weapon truly was the best in the game, then everyone would be running around with it, and the quest would be part of a mandatory grind to be viable.

On the other hand, if there was no reward with a story interwoven, you would have people who actually care for that kind of stuff(as opposed to, how powerful the weapon actually is) complaining.

There are simply things you could do in a single player game, but never in an MMO.

I don't think they disagree with you on that point at all. I think their point is that there's a horrid lack of consistency between the quest lore/dialogue and the reward. It doesn't make sense.
And in this case, changing of the quest at the end would be the sensible route to take, for the very reasons (and good reasons they are) you've stated.
If you can be anything, be kind.

As I recall from when I did that quest, you don't get the actual "Fang of Sithis" from it, that one will be taken for safekeeping by one of the other... and you just get a knockoff copy dagger modelled after the original thing. As such the stats this thingie has are all nice and proper I'd say...

In Evermore in Bangkorai, you can do a puzzle quest to get within inches of what is strongly hinted to being Mehrune's Razor. I liked that quest better. There is obviously a good reason for not giving every player in an MMO the same unique Daedric artefact, but I think they handled it beautifully in the quest.

For those of you who haven't done it, go to the city cemetery in Evermore and find a quest giver there. And if you want to know why I think it was Mehrune's Razor, look at the spoiler below. It's not spelled out beyond all doubt, but it would be a really strange coincidence if this was not intentional.
    • The story about the gang of bandits who hid the dagger in the lockbox tells us that their exploits were something far out of the ordinary, as if they had special powers.
    • When opening the elaborate lockbox, the woman says "it's only a rusty dagger", and in both Morrowind and Oblivion Mehrune's Razor was disguised as a rusty dagger when you first found it.
    • The password you figure out (if you work out the puzzle on paper, the quest is actually dumbed down so you don't get to see that part) is "marshmerrow", and the in-game book about Mehrune's Razor tells a story about an acrobat juggling some marshmerrow weed and a mysterious dagger, ending up with finely cut processed marshmerrow fiber.

    Love that word.. shenanigans

Reminds me of a time in Cyrodiil... well anyway

I think there should be all kinds of Daedric weapons and armor in the game. They should all be max level and can level up with you if there comes to us more levels. There should be some restrictions...

If you have a weapon from a Daedric prince you can not receive one form another. The same goes for armor. They should all be on par with other artifacts but with really cool enchants.

the copy weapons should say a shard of... Mehrune's Razor or Molag Bal's left shin bone..

    funny this.. shenanigans

I think they should implement this: The Daedric Princes randomly appear to people and give a quest. Upon completing it, they give you access to their weapon for a limited amount of time, say 2 hours. Only one of each weapon can be on the server at a time, but for that two hours that player is given incredible power.

It's majestic, but to unlock it's majesty you need to improve it at your local anvil.

This idea is interesting but I think it should be for only specific ones. Sheogorath comes to mind. His fork of unlimited power and a cheese block for a chest item would be great. But some of those weapons should be permanent fixtures. The short term weapons should give us a title..

    Imagine

    Attendant of Brunch with Sheogorath!
    Taskmaster of Peryite

Love this idea. Except the quest should not be completely random, but instead you should be able to earn the quest proc by completing hard content. Similar to the Emperor title. There can only be one emperor per campaign, it's incredibly powerful and it's only for a limited time. But you have to earn it.
