here's a piccy with a high level shield
I think at level 40 they get max size.

we dont have any real tower shields...

Wouldn't expect anything like that from anyone but imperials.
Too much "free hand" spell casting and swashbuckling in Tamriel to be lugging a tabletop around with you.
Imagine trying to sneak with your very own closet door.

What a round shield might resemble. Targes were about half a meter in diameter, bucklers were even smaller.Dekkameron wrote: »The higher level the shield, the bigger they get.

This is true, I know... But even still, the only two shields that are relatively scaled to a realistic size are the one pictured above, and the breton shield is KINDA close. The PVP shield is remotely close to what a round shield would resemble, but even it falls noticeably short.

Anybody care to make a guess about sizes of shields in each racial style? I remember a few looked to be nearing a meter.

I'm not talking about kite shields tho, but rather shields like the spartans and vikings used. Although, yes.. It would certainly make sense for imperials to have kite shields. (Yes these image is from a tv show, but the shield sizes are historically accurate. )

Who said anything about targes or bucklers? Those are two very small and specialized shields, and exceptions to shields in general.
Typical "viking shields" were from 80-92cm in diameter, or nearly 3 feet.

A shield is a shield. ZOS needs to consider different types and sizes when designing racial styles - and take player preferences into account too. Some people like smaller, less restrictive shields, so they should be an option. Besides, we're in full body armor, we don't need that much protection from the shield. What a round shield might resemble.
