Sorry for misleading (old "It's possible to delete mail with attachments inside").

Hi. Just want to warn everyone to be carefully. Previously it was impossible to delete mail till you get all attachments inside. But not now. It happened with me not so long ago. I don't whine here about "return my staff back". Just a tip to be more careful now with mail. I don't know was it a bug or a common accident, but it could happens to everyone.

Also, submited a ticket 150312-000252.

Sorry for misleading. I not deleted mail. I just accidentally send it back. My fault.

Ah that explain it. I had some PvP rewards and i always click like a maniac 'f', 'x', 'e' to grab stuff and delelte mail. And i was pretty sure i had less items then i had mail afterwards. Oh well.

Yeah. I would like if ZOS bring us old system back. It still don't deliver hirelings without zoning, but now it also allow mistakes. And users always do mistakes.

Why would they change it to allow deletion of mails with attachments?

They HAD a system that prevented this issue... why would they remove it?

It's not like there's no TAKE ALL button in ESO, like there isn't in the biggest MMO is the world, so it's easy to collect everything then delete it .. and what items in the mail would you NOT want to take, anyway, so the old situation where you wern't able to delete it was fine.

This is especially annoying as they use the mail system for for every transaction. Hirelings, items bought, and rewards. If they wanted to rely on it so much why didn't they spend more time adding useful features including a deleted items folder for accidental deletions? I also use that f,x,e rapid succession because it's really annoying otherwise to collect 20 or more emails worth of goods.

Guess I was wrong.

BTW, I started that thread about removing the un-needed delete confirmation. Now I guess it is needed, even though it does not stop people using muscle memory (basically every gamer out there) from deleting attachments.

ZOS, if you want people to not delete their attachments, put the email system back to where we can't delete emails with attachments. Error messages that people ignore because they see them on every delete action is not how to do this.

I swore I wasn't getting all my items. I guess I wasn't. Take away the delete confirm and fix it so we can't delete mail with attachments. That worked well.

But if mail with attachments can get deleted now, then that's a different story entirely. It's almost like the Dev thought process went something like this:

How can we address this complaint that we've put in an unnecessary delete confirmation? I know, we'll make it so that it's no longer unnecessary! You can try contacting support, though your milage may vary. I had a quick turn around from them, but the resent attachment was a different level than the one I deleted.

As I said, I submitted ticket to CS immediately after incident. It is the first thing I did. But still no answer. I hope they'll answer soon.

The only way this would make any sense is if we can just take one or two items from an email, then delete the rest. Say with a Crafting Hireling email, take the ore, ditch the style gems for instance.

ONE thread from months ago where ONE person requested something, and pretty much everyone in the thread told the OP that his request was not very well thought-out, and ZOS implements this as a feature now?

I'm not buying it. Even ZOS isn't THAT ridiculous.

I'm going to bug-report this. It can't possibly be working as intended.

Just tried to delete a mail with an attachment in-game (so I could submit a bug report) and it would not let me. It seems to be working as it was before, with no way to delete a mail until the attachment was removed.

Do you recall exactly what you did to get it to let you delete a mail with an attachment? I cannot seem to reproduce it.

I was collecting all staff from mail and found out that my inventory space is out (I get only one item from last mail). I load out all in bank and back to my mail. And then it seems I didn't hit button too hard and didn't get attachments, but then I pressed delete and confirm. And it's gone.

Perhaps it will let you delete the mail if you have pressed the "get attachments" button, even if not all of the attachments were able to be gotten (like in your case of a full inventory).

I will test this out when I get home.

Can you confirm that under normal circumstances, it does NOT let you delete a mail with attachments? If you can freely delete them, then maybe you have an addon installed that's allowing it (if that's even possible)?

Yeah, I will test with the full inventory option, but otherwise, the X option isn’t even there if the mail has attachments.

Yeah. Sorry for misleading, guys. It's far more simplier than I thought. I didn't deleted mail, I sent it back. E and R is pretty close on keyboard. It seems I misclicked, then pressed X (with no result) and then E to confirm deleting, but I confirmed returning mail. Sorry. I really thought that I was hitted (or not hitted E button) and then X and deleted mail. Seems system is still ok.

I don't know about issues other players have with mail, but here is only my fault. Sorry one more time.

Here's a novel idea. How about if an Item has an attachment because it was bought through the guild store, returned because it was unlisted, given to us as a reward or given from a hireling then the mail automatically deletes when you collect the attachment. Why would I want or need a blank email in my inbox anyway? And I know the hirelings have a message, but how many people honestly read that?
