Thieves Guild meets Dark Brotherhood

as a member of the thieves guild your job is to enrich the guild, steal and pick locks 'til your fingers bleed. as a member of the dark brotherhood, i'd love to get a contract on a player who's murdered someone they were stealing from... "oi mate, you're nicked!"

Yeah, I'd not care for that. My main has a 130k bounty from testing out the system and trying to level leger. If I constantly had a player contract on me, I would have to stop playing. I wouldn't even be able to be outside of the refuge long enough to try to make the money to pay the bounty back.

I don't know how it'll work when the pvp part of the justice system comes to be.

    *Steals apple*
    *Player enforcer attacks, bounty up*
*Warps to wayshrine, Player enforcer attacks, bounty up*
    *ect*

    It'd turn into a mess.
And so did many brave men, women, and beast fall to the end of Beta, never to be heard from again. All that is left, is whispers of the adventures they had.

Well, you know what they say, 'Set a deep hole with spring-loaded sides, tripwires, whirling knife blades driven by water power, broken glass and scorpions, to catch a thief'.

it would be cool if these people waiting for their bounties to go away were instead fleeing from unseen assassins. Unkillable guards in towns and other players outside of the towns, maybe

The idea itself is cool, but like I mentioned, if you got a high bounty, you would be killed so often the player would be unplayable until the bounty subsided. Also cap level players or guilds even hanging in low level towns would be an issue. I know the whole "don't do the crime if you can't do the time bit" but I feel like it is suitably difficult dodging guards as it is now. The added challenge makes it interesting. If I couldn't step foot out of a refuge without running into a circle of enforcers camping the exit, I'd be forced to just quit playing my main until the bounty subsided.

At 130k and a bounty decay of 6k-10k, is would take 13-22 for it to decay. Of course once it got low enough you could pay it off, but there's still the issue of making the money in order to pay it off.

What if just one person got the contract? e.g. there's some dark brotherhood quest giver and one person at a time can get assigned an outlaw around their own level to go hunt down and murder, with a deadline, sort of thing

Why would you do that on your main?

Take SWG's bounty system and implement it into ESO! The higher the heat, the more often it raises, the likelier for one to turn up as a bounty. Instead of probes, use winged monkeys. Fly my pretties!

well you guys must not be very good thieves :P im at level 17 and a bounty of zero without paying more than a few thousand gold a couple of times... the trick is to not raise your bounty so high that it cant decay in 1 day... but if you go on a 200 man rampage and kill everything in sight, then u deserve the punishment... and I mean hey... if u get to like 30 k bounty and u just keep going then that's kinda your own fault... its called the justice system not the murder without repercussions system...

a few tipps.. while robbing never walk around with 2 much coin in ur pocket... bank that money so you don't lose it when you get caught... if you have a bounty and need to feed your horse or craft or bank or what ever go to cyrodiil.. but really you have a 10k decay per day.. so I suggest if your bounty reaches 8-10k just stop for the day.. do something else ;)

Why are people getting such high bounties? Am I missing something here or do they just make no effort whatsoever not to get caught?

ive made over 30k gold stealing, and im not a very good thief. the highest bounty i had was 4k, and that was because.......well i was under the impression killing witnesses removed the crime like in skyrim, thats apparently not so. dont know how you guys got such high bounties. i can only guess you have been killing every npc you can

Well, in my case it started simple enough. My main khajiit vampire nightblade using shadow and wearing medium armor seemed like a shoe-in for the life of crime. Did some pick pocketing, got caught eventually, got bounty. Paid it off like a good thief.

Decided to test some systems like trying murder without getting caught. incurred bounty paid off. Decided to try to grind for leger in order to get Trafficker and sell more stuff.

After a few npc attacks from being caught pickpocketing, noticed the NPCs respawn faster than their items do. In order to rush along the leger XP, decided to start killing NPCs that caught me or were empty.

Got up to about 30k playing with the system trying to see what worked and what didn't while I was pickpocketing and killing. Figured I'd just pay the bounty off once I got the passive to reduce the amount you pay. Was at about 60k then.

Had to make a hard decision about how much I wanted to pay 50-something-K. Thought about how even if I paid off the bounty I would still get more trying to raise up leger. I only had about 40k, so I didn't have enough to pay it even if I wanted to.

Figured I'd try to steal my way to the 60k since questing would be difficult with a high bounty.

70k bounty and 50k saved. Really not making any ground. Decided to try a new place. Was doing fantastic getting stole items to sell without getting caught. Was in an open door alchemy shop, a guard was coming up the stairs of the only way out.

Guard took over 5k worth of items, didn't have much actual coin so minimal bounty got paid off. Would have got free but got sniped out in water.

Got irritated, figured it was pointless to try to pay off bounty since it was so high, and it was taking longer to make money being careful. Solution, say screw it and go on a murderous rampage killing anyone that caught me and not even waiting for the "easy" moment to pickpocket.

100k bounty, rage at guard taking so much subsided. It's looking more pointless to pay off bounty. Could maybe get the achievement for paying a 100k to a fence for bounty, but that's a lot of money up front for a random grey.Only had about 70k anyway, still not enough to actually pay is off, though it would have been if I hadn't went on a rampage.

Well, what now.. just keep on going. It's easier to just keep keep getting bounty and avoiding guards, making sure I don't carry much on me. Try to keep pushing on in leger and not get caught so much and maybe hitting the next fine reduction passive will make it possible.

130k bounty, still one more level in leger to get that reduced bounty. Really didn't think this through. Just 300 points and I'll be at the passives.

    I hope..

    maybe..

hopefully it is reduced to a reasonable amount. I thought about letting the guards kill me with X amount at a time to make payments. Though it would be nice to just make payments to the fence. Granted there's never been a payment system before and I don't expect it.

The Dark Brotherhood are far from the dressed in black vigilante. I do believe there is a system in development to cover that in the form of the vindication system. If the Dark Brotherhood do make an appearance then things will get very interesting as they accept contracts from both sides of justice (as well as being hunted by both groups).

Also The Dark Brotherhood as a guild players actually join, then they should be removed from the faction they are currently in and be neutral. Then any member of any faction can pay for the Dark Brotherhood services in PvP. It would mean you could never become Emperor, but your loyalty is to Sithis and YOU WILL follow the word of The Dark Mother.
I, as a loyal member of the Foamy Cult, do solemnly swear to live a logical life free of stupidity, ignorance and all round jack assery. I shall do my best to enlighten those in need of Squirrelly Wisdom in hope of one day ridding the world of human idiocy. This I swear.

It'd would make for a nice PvP modus I think, where 1 player has to kill as much riches within a time limit and the other player has to hunt down the other player and everytime he successfully kills his target, the thief loses x amount of gold
