Do we gain Enlightenment at a rate based on how many CP we currently have?

There have been a lot questions about Enlightenment lately - how it works, etc. From the patch notes:

"Enlightenment slowly accumulates on your account at a fixed rate, regardless of the character you are playing, as long as your account has at least one Veteran Rank character."

What is the rate fixed to exactly - does it ever change?

I'm wondering whether the rate at which we gain Enlightenment is fixed to the number of CP we currently have on our account. If you're a player with less CP overall, you will be enlightened more often and therefor allowed a chance to catch up to players with more CP. This would help reduce the gap in CP between casual and hardcore players.

Probably not. That's kind of what "fixed" means in this context.

Yeah, you could be right. This is kind of just a theory I thought of to help explain all the inconsistency and lack of thorough explanation about how it actually works.

I suspect we can lay the inconsistency at the feet of bugs.

Let's hope they are worked out soon. Though, I'm not complaining... I've had Enlightenment basically the whole time since 1.6. 5 was released. Also on the lower end of the CP spectrum (only came in to 1.6 with 30 CP).

Given the bugs, I'm not sure what it actually is, but I can say what it should be:
400,000 every 24 hours, up to a maximum of 1,200,000 after 3 days. This basically gives you 1 CP worth of Enlightenment per day, up to the cap of 3 days.

Here's the description I wrote for UESP:
While you are Enlightened, Champion Point experience gain is multiplied by four, effectively reducing the required XP for one point to 100,000. Enlightenment stores 400,000 XP per day in a pool up to a cap of 1,200,000 XP after three days. Each experience point earned through normal gameplay expends the stored XP in the Enlightenment pool. For example, if you have accrued Enlightenment for two days, you will have 800,000 XP in the Enlightenment pool. Earning 50,000 XP from regular gameplay will expend 200,000 XP from the pool, giving you 200,000 more XP towards your next Champion Point (but still only 50,000 XP towards your next Veteran Rank), and leaving 600,000 XP in the pool. If you then do not play until the next day, you will start with 1,000,000 XP in the pool. This will be fully used up if you earn 250,000 XP from regular gameplay. The Enlightenment pool is shared across all your Veteran characters.

Enlightenment should be accumulated at a double rate for as long as you are offline, then atleast you wont be dragging behind the hardcore gamers as much. Since the champion system is in danger of creating a huge gap between nolifers and ...well those that have a life (no offence) And enlightenment should be stored for up to 5-7 cp, not just 3.

I have no idea how the perma-enlightenment bug affects things. It was hard enough to come up with an understandable description for the system-as-intended

I have a question; If I play every morning an hour and every evening an our, when and how much enlightenment will I gain?

    a) I will gain 400,000xp E in the morning and no E in the evening
    b) I will gain 200,000xp E in the morning and 200,000 E in the evening
    c) I will gain no E because you have to be offline for 24h to gain E

wich one of the above is true (or are they all wrong? please explain to me  )

When the day resets, same time the pledges and writs do, (7pm NZT or 2am EDT, what ever your time zone is), you get given your full enlightenment for that day.
The next 100k of exp will equal 400k for champion exp and therefore 1 CP (as of Monday, you only get enlightenment for 1CP per day instead of 4). It does not matter if your offline or not.

All that happens if your offline is that it can build up.

400,000 of enlightenment gives you 4 points, as you only need 100k per CP while enlightened.

The original description and comments from devs fit with the first couple days of 1.6 during which time I believe most of us received 4 CP of enlightenment (400K xp) per 24 hour period.

However, Monday's patch notes indicate the amount has been reduced to 1 point per day (100k XP).

It not give actual xp, it give x4 faster speed of xp gain for next 100K exp, when(if) you reach 100K exp, enlightment will end, and all next xp you will obtain with normal speed, on next day it appear again for next 100K xp etc

At the start you got 4 CP points of enlightenment per day (the first 400k of normal exp = 1600k of Champion point exp)
So Wednesday to Monday (when they dropped it to 1CP per day) you could of earn 5x 4Cp points while using enlightenment.

So as of today, having earn 24CP was doable while being 'enlighten' the whole time (not a bug)

Those with more then 24CP (excluding the ones you started with) either did it the hard way or may of used the enlightenment bug.

Also as on Monday then they changed the daily enlightenment from 400k to 100k, if you had not spent your current enlightenment, you would of lost some, cause they also changed the max stored from 1200k to 300k
(and yes this annoyed a lot of 'slower' users, cause if you did not use it, you have now lost it)

You didn't read the description in full. Enlightenment stores 400,000 XP per day and is expended on a 4:1 ratio against earned XP. Earning 100,000 XP expends all 400,000 XP from the Enlightenment pool which is why you get 1 CP for 100,000 XP while enlightened.

You will gain 400,000 E-XP at 6:00 AM GMT. This is enough for 1 CP and is fully expended by you earning 100,000 XP.
