Unplayable PvP & Endless CP Grind - is this really the game ZOS wanted to create?

It's easy to rage at ZOS, and believe me I do, but I cannot believe that they say down in their planning meetings and, with an evil laugh or two, came up with what we are currently seeing in 1.6.

They can't have deliberately made PvP so laggy and unreliable that long term players are rage quitting the game after a couple of days?

They can't have thought that the future of CP was players running around the high areas competing over mobs of sabre tooth cats outside Riften just to gain 15 extra Magicka - for the next 10 years?

Surely they have a plan? Surely they are trying to create a game that people can enjoy?

I wish they would share their vision with us of how these changes will actually lead to a better game!

Do you really believe they would purposely make pvp laggy & unplayable. Not going to claim I know what goes on behind the scenes at Zenimax, though i'm sure stuff like lag in Cyrodiil & all the other issues must be a source of frustration.

Gw2 had it share of problems with lag in world vs world. Especially so on the really popular servers. Lag spikes, rubber banding, unusable skills & weapons, crashes etc. Took them a while to iron out the issues too.

That's my point - this can't have been deliberate and yet most of the issues were reported on PTS and yet they released knowing about them.

Is it some sort of collective insanity or refusal to recognise that these are genuine problems?

Are they being driven by suits who lack basic comprehension?

I'd love to hear what they actually wanted - outside the neatly regimented PR soundbites from ESO live.

Maybe the "Megaserver" technology they were sold is fundamentally flawed and they need to switch to a conventional server system. That's the only thing I can think of. I mean didn't they say at the beginning that the Megaserver wasa new innovation. I think that's the problem. Maybe they should change the server technology try it on a new PTS and if many of the problems are solved then that's the issue.

This is kind of interesting. I wonder if ZOS is having the same problems.

The thing that struck me most in that story was how the devs at this other game maker had been blogging on what the issue was and their efforts to fix it rather than hiding in their ivory tower and crowing over how they 'fixed' grind spots while leaving major bugs untouched...

Yes, that caught my attention too. A little more transparency in this game would be welcome . . . who knows there may even be players with genuinely good and helpful ideas . . .

oh, and now look at this article
    datacenterknowledge.com/archives/2009/11/25/wows-back-end-10-data-centers-75000-cores/

I wonder what ESO's megaserver is like probably not as big, but would be fun to get the specs.

Its funny that they've reduced enlightenment, and continue to nerf mob xp...

The CP grind appears endless because new content has not been released yet. I like the new progression system as do many that I know of that are earning their CPs while we play the forum game.

PvP is unplayable under many circumstances, but not all. Regardless of the specifics, the state of PvP is completely unacceptable!

ZOS tried to do something no one else has been able to pull off. There are reasons why no one else has. While they are not insurmountable, they're challenging for sure and cost, as expected is a big factor just as much as the tech design itself.

My only ask of ZOS is that rather than a closed door approach they were actually more transparent with the state of PvP issues. The continual promise to look into and/or fix the lag with little to no resolution destroys their credibility. At best this style removes any chance of player loyalty. At least @ZOS_BrianWheeler pops-in occasionally which helps tremendously.

ZOS's style is still not how you treat customers your interested in retaining. That I'm sure of.

I think people should give these devs a chance. The game just had a huge major content addon that was tested on a pts server with limited people playing. It is now on full megaserver population. Issues will show up. Every MMO has them. But at least ZOS actively works them out, or passionately attempts to.
As for the CP system, I do not want to push through it within a week, or month. It is a progression system added for current and FUTURE content. If you read the forums, you already know that tons of great new areas are coming to ESO, based on Domonoid's datamining. I must assume that those who are complaining about a slow CP gain, are people who want instant endgame gratification.
I do not believe that ZOS wants to cater to players who rush to end game progression within a week, get bored and come to the forums complaining that the game is boring and has no endgame. Those players usually ragequit and move on to the next game to rush through. Based on what my guildmates and friends say, most players are very happy with the new content overall. But feel that some things could get tweaked, such as adding other ways to build up CP experience, such as crafting. Plus, I am sure PVP will be fixed. People must be a bit more patient. The devs here have listened to their fanbase and turned a buggy, clunky, bot filled game around into a very fun, content filled world, that is only getting better.

    Thank you.

I really enjoy playing this game and am looking forward to the new content coming our way. So, I try to take a positive attitude toward issues that I believe can be worked out and accepted by most of the community. But there are a lot of people playing this game. And we all have our own style of play. So, I do not think it is possible to please everyone. But the devs surely try to make a better game for us. And I appreciate that they try to cater to many different types of players.
