Whats the point of killing every NPC that you see?

I dont have any idea wwhy would someone do this. There is no great rewards, i cant see that many roleplaying mindless murdering lunatics, they rarely drop anything...

Are people trying to get that 100k bounty for that one color maybe? Or is it that some people have some wiring in their head connected the wrong way?

Yes, i do murders too with one character who is my bad character but i do it out of sight when nobody can see it, the immersive realistic way.

There are achievements both for a 100k bounty and for murdering 100 people, so the game actually encourages people to do this. Also, once you have done every quest there is in all zones, several times over, there are no other new things to try in the game. Players who have been in the game since launch are starved for new content.

I usually don't take any pleasure in the darker paths in RPGs (vampirism, thieving, assassination), but even I am thinking about going on a rampage with at least one of my alts, just to do something else than repeating the same old quests and dungeons.

XP is not CP on 1-50 zones.

That said, with these achievments, i understand this a bit better now.. Though the XP or CP argument is not really valid as zones have better ways to get that XP and better mobs to kill too :)

I do not take pleasure as it is from these darker paths either.. But i do force myself to do these as well in order to get more ways to play the game and get new perspectives.. Though the perspective matter does not really work in ESO like in other TES games, not yet anyway, i hope they someday give more options to be more neutral or evil as well aside from being that goodie two shoes every time :)

One thing, does murder increase that new skill line? If so, i think that might be a reason to do this..

Still, please dont kill everyone, world feels so dead without those lovely everyday citizens doing their sryff. Guess who will hunt ye when that PVp part is implemented ^^

Ï don't kill in the streets but when I am farming motifs I kill those poor fellas because they give me bounty if they see me loot things. And for the record, killing them won't give bounty because I kill them with one hit and nobody sees the murder. It just has to be done or looting containers would slow down because sometimes they just stand there and look at your direction.

It's fun? I only kill when they are an obstacle or are attacking me.

I do see your point and have found it a bit...sad to see the various NPCs serving as blue collar folks in towns lying dead in the street. Don't see what purpose that serves, gaming or otherwise except to make me happy I live an ocean away from these players.

What I find more bewildering is why they didn't take yet another multiplayer gaming opportunity with this and, instead, used it to create yet another antisocial single player gaming focused feature.

Right from opening night people wanted to raise ARMIES to cleanse Davon's Watch of its guards. No doubt this was going on in other towns too. On through the evening people would suggest this, have many willing recruits, only to be told that these guards are not only invulnerable but they EXPLODE in a massive AOE when brought low.

And spontaneous multiplayer online gaming very nearly broke out! ;)

The Justice System too could so easily have been a group activity on the Good Fellas side. But that's a subject no doubt being covered in other topics as this one is.

I do it for fun, the game mechanics are enjoyable, there are achievements and loot, and the risk of getting caught by the guards.

From a role playing perspective it's not something my character would do. Then again, I don't see any reason for a character to go about mindlessly murdering people who have never wronged him or her. Even if it is someones "bad" character.

Saddest thing in many dead NPC's is, that they used to have nice things to say. Funny stories, sad stories, rumors and all kind of normal stuff that now lies dead on the ground. Some i got even attached to and now they too are dead.

I do like the group armies idea, but i think when focused against NPC's it is just another bad thing for the game and it is good that guards are in god mode, wish there be more of them. What i do wish, is that when PVP part is implemented, we see small battles of multiple people. Other side being those thieves and murderers, other side those who decided to side with decent folk.

So much this. I think this game is plagued by far too many strange and bad design decisions.

    Hey everyone,
We're closing this thread as it's a very old necro and well out-of-date. There are more recent discussions on similar topics so we would suggest either checking out one of those threads or starting a new one.
