Over 30 hours since last Enlightenment...

My understanding was this is supposed to be something that happens on a timer, regardless of what you do with your veteran characters. Regardless, I have been pretty much playing and gaining experience for the past day and a half since I first got the Enlightenment buff, and have not received it since.

Everyone in Rawl'kha says the Enlightenment system is just broken, and that many people have never received the buff at all. Could this really be so?

Should we be waiting for the first patch of the Champion system for the Champion system to function?

Sorry if I sound jaded, I absolutely love the game and all the new stuff. I have just been dealing with one bug after another lately and I guess I'm sort of on a short fuse in general.

Am I doing something wrong? Is this or is this not supposed to be on a 24 hour timer regardless of what you do?

Your question and the enlightenment problem is being covered extensively in the "Enlightenment working for ANYONE?" thread. It's a bug that ZOS is apparently aware of and was aware of in the PTS but put 1.6 live without fixing the issue. They have stated they are working on it. For complete details I suggest you read that thread.

This is utterly incomprehensible to me. On the one hand there are people like me, who can't bring themselves to level their veteran character as they will be essentially wasting vet quests until ZOS fixes the primary feature of their expansion they seemingly never even bothered to test, and on the other hand, people happily gaming the brokenness of yet another major patch with over 100 CP already.

How many times do we have to go through this? You can't be a professional company and release an expansion with such a game breaking SERIES of bugs in such a primary component of that expansion.

Whatever. I guess we wait. Really disappointed in this though. We will have people with several hundred CP from the "Enlightenment never goes away" version of the bug before ZOS gets around to dealing with this. Can't wait to head to Cyrodiil.

    Oh wait. Screw Cyrodiil! XD

This is why I was hesitant on ZOS releasing 1.6 on Tuesday especially after reading about all the bugs reported from the PTS testers many of which had not been resolved. But, ZOS is continuing their track record of releasing updates which contain several issues and bugs no matter what the concequences. Then when the aftermath falls you get their all too familiar statement "We are aware of the problem and working on a fix". In this case however, it is a major game breaking bug that could of been averted by being fully tested and they should of insured it was working correctly prior to 1.6 release. They as usual dropped the ball and we as usual have to deal with it.

I have no doubt this system will end up causing this, even when working as intended. Also if you grinded like loco you prolly won't get enlightenment if I understand the system well.

EXPOITING, how many people have u heard are getting cp's by the ton ? I cp every 30 mins, ZOS doesn't realize the gamers will do anything to find a way to gain an advantage ingame.

They have in their so called grind area's, call it what you want but I hope they remove all cp gained by exploits.

It's not exploits is bad game design.

If what ZOS said about the system was true it wouldn't really matter if people grind CP cuz it's not suposed to be a big digference. Then again we all know that's BS.

My enlightenment was working fine - and I was logging in and out of alts regularly.

My enlightenment stopped working properly - at least as far as I can tell since ZOS likes to keep exactly how its suppose to work a mystery.

I submitted a bug report- and literally after pressing send I got a message saying I was enlightened. Hmm, what a kwinkydink. Ok I thought, better grab some xp before it mysteriously disappears again. It said I would be enlightened through the next CP point. Awesome, right? So drop what I'm doing and go kill some monsters. But after reading the forums, I wanted to make sure. So after 2 kills I checked the math and my progress. No enlightenment. The enlightenment notice when you hover the cursor over the CP bar was gone as well.

So to recap - submit bug report, get banner exclaiming enlightenment is working, enlightenment actually not working.

Cant think of a faster way to kill the game.

There is nothing wrong with grinding mobs. The fact that people what to call every single instance of grinding that they see or hear about as an exploit is actually what created a big part of the problem we now have. If you are going to ask they remove CPs on the basis of how people earned them, you may as well demand that they remove VR ranks from people who did grinding of any sort to level as well.

If you want to lay blame, place where it is due: ZoS has made the very obvious choice to yet again release a system completely buggy and unfinished, and even more obvious and significant: they ignored everything we reported on PTS about the XP gain rate for completing content in PvP, PvE, etc. Which leads us to this:
The most important thing to remember about Tamriel Unlimited's virtual currency system is that we're not adjusting the base game—it will be exactly the same game, with the same leveling pace, experience point gain, user interface, etc. that you have been used to since April of last year. We're adding customization and convenience items in the Crown Store, but those will be added to the game as it is now; we're not going to make it harder for you to enjoy the game you already play to encourage you to use the Crown Store.

I know there's some concern and discussion around what types of items you'll see in the Crown Store in the future, and I want to stress that our philosophy of convenience and customization will always be used to make the determination of what goes into the store and what doesn't. As such, I can tell you that we'll almost certainly have experience boost potions in the store at some point, as this kind of shortcut (spending less time to gain experience) is classified as a convenience. We're still discussing what convenience items we'll also make available for purchase in-game with gold. Nothing is defined yet, though.

Make of that what you will... but it is not hard to see the issue.

Hell... I've just stopped playing. And, funny thing... I'm a lot less pissed off at them.

    TSW is fun.

As I said the grinders will defend their gains anyway they can, call it what you want, but if you have to only kill certain mobs in a dungeon, not compete said dungeon, log in and out to reset the dungeon, and your enlightenment. I would call it an exploit, or at the very least abusing the system.

Don't blame ZOS grow up and take some responsibility for not following what the game designer's entended.

I thought my enlightenment was working. It told me my enlightenment was working, but as I leveled my CP I did not receive any points. Every time I logged out and back on or took a way-shrine I would keep getting my CP level reduced back to its original number. Thus letting me know I never was enlightened and all my gains was not counting.

My wife and I play together and have played together "in a group" since the patch. Her enlightenment is working because she is currently CP 79, however I'm still fighting the up heel battle to CP 73.

Apply that type of thinking to yourself please. Demanding things be taken away from other players just because you don't like what they choose to do with their time is about as childish as you can get.

And no, grinding mobs isn't an exploit. That is what they are there for and obviously part of the game design just like everything else. Assuming everything is an exploit doesn't mean it is. People looking to create them is something else entirely and has not to do with simply killing of mobs.

I made the same observation. Interesting problem, seeing how big the xp boost of enlightenment is - and either not having it while other players do, or having it and then it disappearing. With a solution to the problem coming by way of the crown store in a week or so.

Reminds me of the drug dealer who giveth away for free briefly to entice customers to get hooked. Whether nefarious or not, big issue ZOS.

100% of players who haven't logged into the game since tuesday haven't encountered any issue with update 6. Everything must be working perfectly. ESO is wonderful, all rainbows and unicorns and hundreds of CPs.
