Constant Crashes Update 6

I never had any issues before with my game crashing. Since update 6 is on live, I crash when teleporting and entering buildings. 80% of all loading screens result in a game crash for me.

Who else got the same problem? And even more important, how did you fix it if you fixed it?

Yeah, was getting that on my Mac Pro. Then again, it's a dual-processor (2 processors, eight cores (4 each)) machine, and ESO doesn't officially offer support for dual-processor systems.

Was running glass-smooth prior to the update, and then started crashing like it was going out of style with 1.6.

Ran Repair on the game last night and it seemed a bit more stable, but then again only played it for around 45 minutes. Will see if the instability persists in the next few days.

I could not even play a character for more than 10 minutes last night. I would get disconnected from the game in 3 to 10 minutes, no matter what character I had loaded. I spent more time reloading the game and relogging than playing.

Yea. It´s getting pretty annoying..

Btw, Do you guys all have bounty on you? I just want to confirm something.

I have froze, music keeps playing but screen stuck, which makes me actually have to log out of windows completely to get back into my desktop, thankfully this has only happened 3 times in 14 or 15 hours of gameplay(no big deal).

Amazingly though in the 9 months of playing this game every day those 3 freezes are the first time I have ever had stability issues.

Also the game is running considerably better post 1.6 than pre 1.6. I am running almost full gfx and before I was mid range at best which is a MASSIVE increase for me.

Now that I think about it, yes, each time I froze was in city when I had a bounty. hmmmmm

Now that I think about it, yes, each time I froze was in city when I had a bounty. hmmmmm

maybe one of your 100+ addons is out of date and causing issues

Almost sounds like memory issues; not with your hardware but bugs in the code.

I put that out of the way by disabling everything. Still the same. And my addons are all up to date and no errors anywhere. :P

And cmon, it´s not that much Cleaned up alot when update 6 went live.

My crashes mainly when I alt-tab and it only started after 1.6

Ya, I'm crashing a lot.......after I finish a quest and try to talk to the reward person, or going through a door, or just walking away from something? This didn't happen on the pts at all? Really, crashing when I'm doing nothing major.

Around twice an hour.

Yep, I've crashed more since update 6 dropped then I had in 3+ months previously. Someone done goofed!

Ditto. Since the update I'm crashing whenever zoning or logging out to the character select screen. The only thing that doesn't crash me is actually quitting the game. I can run around in a zone forever, but if I even use a wayshrine or try to log out to change characters, crash.

Oh, I use no add ons, have run the repair tool three times now, updated graphics and audio drivers just yesterday and I do not participate in the new "Justice System", so no bounty for me.

To sum up: I only crash when a loading screen comes up.

Have any of you tried repairing your files with the launcher? I've had absolutely zero problems with crashes.

I also have never had any problems with the game crashing or with the animations not being smooth, even in Cyrodiil when everyone else in my group was crashing around me. But so far in 1.6, I've crashed a couple of times. Running on foot or riding my horse is not smooth. The horse, and my character on foot, just randomly stop momentarily for no reason, then continue. This happens a lot, way too often to just ignore.

To answer some of the above questions and suggestions, I have zero add-ons installed for 1.6 yet. Not a single one. And I have repaired my files. No difference. There is something weird with this version of the game. Possibly those of you lucky enough to not have any problems might just have a graphics card or setup that isn't affected by whatever is wrong. My PC is a really good gaming computer, not the absolute top grade, but very good. I have Time Warner's cable internet service, so the answer is not due to wi-fi.

(By the way, a separate problem, but also related to animations: I absolutely hate that some skills will activate the way the character is looking, not the way my mouse is pointing. It's particularly disorienting with bolt escape, but is also a pain with my 2-handed weapon on my templar.)

I have had crashes since 1.5, same thing, no problems until the patch.

I have noticed that if you Alt + Tab out of the game while travelling somewhere it will crash my game, not sure if this is the case for anyone else. I have spent about 3 weeks talking back and forth with support and it led them to say, "Please reboot your entire computer and all its content from scratch"... Which I am not going to do, lol. It is also seemingly related to high-density areas (density as in player population).


And just for clarity I have been unable to fix my crashes, though unlike your's they occur pretty much anyway. My computer is more than capable of handling the game at max settings, so it is not a hardware issue either.

Today I crashed to a report ticket 3 times in a row when I tried to talk to an npc after finishing part of a quest. You can not submit a ticket though. I've run repair 3 times over the last 3 days with no luck there.

Most of my crashes happen after I complete a quest (or a part of a quest). This all started after the new update build and did not happen at all on pts. I am running a high end rig that has no trouble with this game in the past.

I have started having game freezes today. I have had no issue since the patch until today.

Both times it happened in Shadowfen and i was walking and boom frezze, game is stuck i get pop up asking to wait for game to respond or close game.

Another idea i have that needs confirmation. Which time on the day do you encounter these crashes?

I didnt got any when I was online playing in the morning. The later the day, the more crashes i get, seemingly. Your experience with this?

Had two lock ups today in Audiron. Was not doing anything special both times just riding down a road to a quest location. All I could do was task manager out (alt) F4 would not work when the game froze. This has never happen before. Started with 1.6. At least its nice to know it is not just me.

I can't even load the game since today because of insta-crash on startup.

ESO has some issues with overclocked hardware, if your screen freezes and goes black that is.

Like many others, prior to 1.6, the game was quite stable.

Now, experiencing crashes and sometimes even freezes on too regular a basis.

... and yes, did run repair.

I run two physical processors that each are a quad-core Xeon (8 core hyper threaded, for 16 total cores) ... Not a single crash on live NA so far. I do not overclock.

Rock solid stable before 1.6 - on quad core i7 4300k with nvidia gtx 780ti SLI

After 1.6 I wouldnt say crashes constantly - relative to hours I play, it's now and then as best qualified for how often.

However, one clear pattern - I never, ever crash while on foot. I always only crash when mounted or hitting mount key, with usual pre-crash scenario being riding through town and horse has that weird stutter step pause that started only with 1.6

Not a mem leak because this can happen 2 seconds after I boot into game or many hours later.

Can you open map and pay to wayshrine without crashing ?
Are you in cyrodiil ? If so...leave for PVE land and gentle quit.
