Following an accidental bite from a guildmate, I decided to have a go at beating the werewolf quest at level 3, with no armor, no weapons, no food and no potions.
And well..... it went FAR better than I anticipated: social.xfire.com/videos/633540

It does make me wonder if the ease with which I killed the mammoth is due to changes in 1.6, or so quirk in the programming, because it wasn't that easy when I tried at level 4....

    Xfire doesn't seem to have the best servers, and it must have done. I did it at level 4 in 1.5, and this was nnowhere near as hard as that.

    Damn... I tried to do it at level 13, but the "target" was a giant troll and after getting killed about 8 times, I gave it up.
    Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
    Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
    Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
    Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.

    Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
    House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
    Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

    Try fighting the mammoth. If you get a different boss, exit and wait 10 minutes and then try again

    Tried it, same boss, left again, same (troll) boss. After about 8 deaths, I figured I'm just not there yet.

    So I let the "6 days" expire and I'll give it a try some other time.

    Give it another go at least once a day, it can sometimes take a very long time to get the mammoth. In my experience, once you have your strategy perfected, getting the mammoth to spawn can be the most time-consuming part

    Are you saying there are more ... options besides Mammoth and Troll?

    There is a snake as well. Wouldn't recommend fighting that though

    And the enemies don't scale down, do they? I mean nothing in the game scales down...only ever up
    I have approximate knowledge of many things.

    The floor for the Hunting Grounds seems to be 12 now.

    Mammoth, Frost Troll, Troll, and Snake.

    Frost Troll is impossible at low levels; his passive health regen is like triple your DPS!

    Also, the snake does lots of poison damage and will wreck you even at mid-levels.

    Honestly, the Frost Troll used to be some people's go to boss for ultra low level runs. Not sure how they pulled it off, something about howl juggling. I think Muse was one of the people swearing by him.

    But, that said, when the Snake is only level 12? It looks like any of the bosses might be viable now. I'm honestly unsure, because I don't have many characters low enough to make running it again worthwhile.

    I did the frost troll at level 18 he was easy because his attacks were all directed and that made t easy to dodge and pummel. Plus the directed attacks gave me plenty of time to use health potions

    The frost troll used to be much weaker than normal trolls. That was changed in 1.5

    My 18th level character could barely effect the @#@$ troll.

    Then my hubby, in a fit that could have been chivalry or gamer-arrogance, came over and said 'let me try'. After 8 attempts (and you heard me admit it here - he is WAY better in combat than I am), he gave it up as a bad job.

    Like I said, I'll try again later.

    Yeah, I tried the Frost Troll a couple times when I was doing my first 16 run. I finally called it a lost cause, though, obviously, some people figured that guy out. The Mammoth on the other hand, quickly became my go to boss. But, that said, I now have the Mammoth's moveset down.
