CP Question Regarding Enlightment and Current CP XP

First, do I gain enlightenment even though I have been playing? Or do I need to be logged out?
Secondly, If I have earned 250k XP toward the next CP and enlightenment is granted to make my next CP cost 100k, how does that work? Am I automatically granted a CP and my bar shows 150k toward the next CP?
