Livid...download for 8 hours restarted

So I purchased this in box set and started downloading the HUGE updates last night, this morning it was at 84% done, so I am like cool...I leave for a while and come back 4 hours later knowing that it should be done...and now it is saying that I am only at 3% when I should be playing it right now. It restarted the entire download of all the patches from the beginning. It is downloading at like 613.21KB/s which is ridiculous. So I am going to have to wait ANOTHER 12 hours to even play the game?! Are you joking? I have half a mind to take this game back because this isn't cool at all, most updaters verify where you left off within seconds...this on the other hand takes longer and then this kind of garbage happens...I cannot even believe this.

Why would it do something like this and is there a fix?

I mean I could understand if I downloaded the ENTIRE game without the disks, but really? With the disks it has this much to download? And it restarted the entire thing?! I just cannot get past this.

Welcome to ESO. Your download probably completed earlier today, but if you are on the North American server, a 20GB patch was released in the middle of the day.

The patch download servers are probably overwhelmed, but 600 kB/s is a bit slow. I have found that it is possible to PAUSE the download and then resume it after a few seconds and have the speed increase.

Well hopefully that is what it is and the initial download was completed but I don't know. I guess I just picked a bad day to purchase the game, but I did pause and then resumed it and the speed jumped up to 952.38KB/s which is good. I am just complaining because it is my only day off this week after working 7 days straight and there is all these massive updates...figured buying the discs would have cut that by 3/4. Still pissed but I am not going to take it back in hopes that the initial download was done and this is just the new update...

NOPE...So my PC auto restarted after a download and the percentage of the new update was at 70 some odd percent last time I saw it. So I simply boot the updater up again, and guess what? I am only at 18% now....as if the past 6 hours never existed....taking this game back tomorrow and Walmart will give me my money too if I complain enough because this system is awful...unsubbing asap

At about 1-2pm est they realsed update 1.6 and the loader will automatically start downloading it on its own i believe so you may have complted the 1st set of updates and then started the massive 1.6 update as well which were all waiting to finish

Hey there @Deathweeps,

During the installation process, it is normal for the launcher to go from 0% to 100% multiple times, especially during a new installation. Closing the launcher and reopening it may impede your progress, so your best bet is to leave it running until the download/installation/verification completes.

This happened to me too. I left it on all day yesterday it had 12000 MB to download and it wasn't finished in the evening it was at 68% and needed 6000 MB to go. It got to 72% after hours so I paused it to play an online game with a friend. When I unpaused it (Note: I did not close the launcher) it went back to 68% and I needed to install the 6000MB again when it was at 1500 MB left, so I decided to cancel it and leave it overnight. In the morning it was done the play button was there so I turned off my PC and went to school got back and now 13000 MB to download after a bit off repair and open and close I am now at 68% with 6000 MB to download again I am considering if it's worth it to leave it on the rest of the day just make my day boring leave it on or not. If I leave it on the rest of the day it might be done by the time I go to sleep but then when I close it I will probably have to install the 13000 MB again. This isn't an issue that can be overlooked. It takes hours to install this I have lost 2 days of my subscription because of this.

I was searching some more and saw someone else comment that today they got a 13000 MB update and he had a download rate of 450 Kb/s. So we just did pick a horrible day to install the game.

I will not stop complaining although you have been trying since Christmas I paid (pounds I can't find the key the keyboard has changed settings)70 for a game that I want to play.

I just finished another all night of installing the patch. But now I get fatal error 11 whenever I click play.

Just done a repair, and now have to download the whole game again 31004.00 MB at a rate of 450 Kb/s. According to many sites I may see the light of ESO in 141 hours...

It worked! After multiple days of not turning off my computer to download this I finally managed to play ESO. This download seemed right unlike the other ones which had random download values and random percentages this one downloaded 30000 MB and when it was at 50% had 15000 MB left.
