I picked a lock, went inside and took a few items with no issues. Then the lady inside saw me and told me to leave before it got worse. I assume because I left there is no issue but if I stay they what, scream for a guard and I run for my life?

pema✭✭✭you can see how much trouble you are in by the little gauge like thing in the bottom right. It has 3 stages the more red the worse. Trespassing and picking locks can be adding bounty, (the amount you see with the gauge) and if you get caught by a guard you'll have to pay or flee. If you stay inside the person could attack you or call a guard. they can act very differently.1 -

✭✭✭On PTS when i stayed in the house to long the attacked me. I killed them.
To bad you cannot 'interact' with the enviroment like Oblivion and Skyrim so you could pick up items with a key and toss them around. I would burn the bodies in the fireplace to get rid of the evidence.٩(͡๏̯͡๏)۶
