I'm glad the Orc Heavy got changed. Boob Windows are STUPID.
The rest of the changes are meh.
You're right about that, and it's actually even worse than you describe it. If you look at a knight's breastplate from the era where full plate was becoming common, you'll note that it typically has a ridge along the front that the breastplate curves away from on both sides. This design helps to deflect blows so that the full force won't go into the armour (making it less likely to penetrate), and to make it more likely that a blow will glance off the side rather than connect solidly to your vital areas. Protrusions for breasts means that blows striking anywhere on the inner curves of the protrusions will be directed towards the middle of the chest, making it more likely that they will penetrate the breastplate, while simultaneously directing them towards some of the most vital areas of the anatomy.bellanca6561n wrote: »If you go with logic, however, the armor protrusions for breasts are even more absurd. I got this a lot when complaining about the change. One player in the NA Pact RP mega-guild told me to go f*ck myself sideways, another told me to go elsewhere for my pixel boobs...it got strange. Many cited logic.

Thus all metal armor of all styles with breast protrusions are stupid....or STUPID as you put it.
No, this is about a different sensibility and I believe, in the case of the RP folks, it goes to some lore issue I'm unaware of.
Few say the Dark Seducer costume or the Encasement of Anguish rare drop armor is stupid.Encasement of Anguish with Daedric "breeches" at a NA Pact RP event
This is because the original mythology of elves as bewitchers and seducers was offloaded to the Daedra. Other games maintain that mythology but we tend to dismiss them as juvenile.
We are comfortable with killing, but not with sex. We delight in gory effects, blood spurting, and victims dissolving into poison pools while howling in agony, but not with boobs showing or any leg exposed at all.
Armor is also clothing in this game. And I used it as such and do not believe it looked....stupid.
I get your point, MornaBaine, and we agree that it can be clothing...but why is it okay to wear revealing armor as clothing....so long as it's not metal?
Where I think we can all agree is that it probably didn't suit the Orc motif. Yet I'd wager real money that if both were available we'd rarely see the new Orc heavy female style.
Finally getting back to the early posts in this thread, I think it might have been better handled had we not be told this was an improvement in the announcement ("come see the improved new styles") followed by a developer initiated topic seeking praise.
Every time I read those topics about removed boob windows this comic comes to mind: http://oglaf.com/newmodelarmy/
(Won't post pictures cause they may be looked as inappropriate! )

I wish I didn't get so emotionally involved in games but I guess that's what makes me a gamer. I was literally sobbing about the changes when 1.6 hit and my boyfriend had to comfort me. I feel like a kid who had a giant rainbow lolypop i loved, and THE MAN walked up to me, stole my lolypop, and said "There's a store over there where you just might be able to buy a red lolypop, but your rainbow lolypop is mine" and then bit it in half in front of me.
Anyway I put up a new thread to respond to the ESO live stream and to make a poll with more options:

I would agree with this. Overall 1.6 is the best update ESO has yet seen IMO, but I consider this part of it to be a mistake. There are a couple of other quibbles I have with 1.6 (aside from this, my biggest concern is that the bounty granted when you heal an outlaw is poorly thought out, and overly punishing to new players who do it by accident), but overall I think it was a great update.bellanca6561n wrote: »The core of version 6 is anything but random, however.
