Just when I thought people couldn't get any more dramatic about their video games...

I'm seriously expecting the OP to have something about ESO written in his epitaph.

What exactly are we watching for ? Is that a movie poster ? What just happened ?

We are watching how this game is going to *** by appealing to lowest common denominator.

Wow. I had a serious flashback to the Bethesda Skyrim forum circa November 2011 after reading this.
    WhiskyBob wrote: »
Recent revelations and overall discussion on forums makes me feel that us, the players that went through ***, are being set aside.
    We continued playing through bugs.
We continued playing basing on promises of new content that will be now implemented as bunch of DLC
We continued playing hoping for better Cyrodill
We continued playing no matter how many plush netches you decided to put on your heads to divert our attention away.
We spent dozens of hours trying to figure out bugs and exploits on Public Tests Servers.
We are the ones that care about the game.
We are the ones that get thrown spare change of crowns as a "thank you" for our support.
The most of the players that will feed you subscription money after Tamriel Unlimited will be us, the ones that pay now, not the freebie hordes you try to attract.

It is true that ZOS is going to be listening to everyone, and that will include the new console players as well as B2P people coming into the game. It is also true that some of the views and opinions will not always align with what every "Veteran" thinks should happen.

It is also true that the number one reason to subscribe over the last year, aside from actually playing the game, was to have the ability to influence the direction of the game. The people who were subscribed and making feedback at the time have influenced, heavily influenced, the direction of the game in the last 9 months. Not everyone is going to get everything they want, but I can tell you that many of my suggestions are currently in the game. Not all of my suggestions are in the game, and I may not be the exclusive suggester of the ideas, but they do sometimes do what I suggest.

In the end, as I read through your list of issues, I find myself being pretty "meh" about it.

I don't see the past year as "paid beta", as others have suggested, as much as the opportunity to contribute to the game development direction. Bugs are not going to magically disappear come ESOTU. New bugs will continue to present themselves. People will be playing through bugs for a good long time.

With the coming of B2P, we will no longer be the only ones who care about the direction of the game. The B2P people will have just as much of a right to ask for changes, and even reversals, of game decisions. ZOS will need to address these things, and that does scare me considerably. I fear the influx of passionate and convincing P2W players. We already have the "mold ESO into the image of my favorite MMO" crowd in here, and that will also get worse.

There have been some comments about the upcoming zones being paid DLC. The concern that subscriber money in 2014 was used to create these and that they will be paid DLC. Subscribers are paying for current content, but they money is used for future development. This is always the case, and the DLC is no different. Anyone who subscribes to ESO Plus will get the same DLC that was "paid for" in 2014 for no additional cost, and under the same terms. The only difference is that there is now a way to get these updates without having to subscribe.

I do want to caution about "only child syndrome" in all of this. The topics of incoming B2P players and the new console players are generating a lot of commentary that seems to support it.

    OH OOOHHH!!

    This sounds like Faith.

When Mass Effect 3 came out with a lousy and disappointing ending people were raging all across the internet. There was a facebook page specifically dealing with the fans' disappointment and anger. A fundraiser was attached to this and the funds raised were donated to some good cause. Within days the news bushfired across major online and even print media. The reception of this fan based "anger channel" was incredibly vocal.

The outcome: EA reacted by glorifying their "dedicated fanbase" and provided additional DLC and/or video closings to make ME's ending more likeable for the players. Essentially, they gave in to pressure funneled into the mass media. That's it in a nutshell.

Not playing "Good evening, London!" from V here, but people can measure their strength with a company when the heat is building up by media spins. Happened before...

Thanks for the info, guys. We're looking into this now and will report back in a bit. I think we may have gotten our wires crossed somewhere. :confounded:
Thanks! There are at least three threads floating around today on this XP for achievements issue so I think a lot of people would appreciate clarification.
Ok, we can confirm that some achievements will grant XP upon completion. This is intended, and we won't be removing it. ;) Sorry for the confusion, guys!

As for the topic at-hand, a maximum of 70 Champion Points was a number we felt was fair for the conversion and with the launch of Update 6 around the corner, it will not be changed. That said, we understand there's some concern about earning XP beyond Silver and Gold content. Outside of quests, you can also earn XP by killing monsters, going through dungeons, finishing Crafting Writs, participating in the Alliance War, and completing repeatable quests. We're also looking at increasing the XP you receive from Veteran Dungeons, but that's still a work in progress.

Can you comment on the possibility of increasing XP gains from PvP in Cyrodil, not including the repeatable PvE quests.

We actually did raise XP gain in Cyrodiil back when Update 5 was released. Based on data we've been watching, XP gain specifically in Cyrodiil varies quite a bit - some players get a lot, but others may not get as much. We'll continue to keep an eye on it, but there's no immediate plans to increase it again.

It's funny, and I say that sincerely. Reminds me of an old obivion portal for some reason.

But honestly, those that are veterans have to stop the self-righteousness. It's not doing us any favours, and just comes across as bigotry. We have ZERO extra rights compared to the player that has no veteran rank characters.

It doesn't matter if someone's played the game for 10 hours a day from the very beginning, that person still pays for the game the same as those that play it a couple of times a week. The way we use the product is completely self-controlled doesn't entitle anyone to any extra or special treatment. Zenimax is looking forward, not back, people have to realise that.

I chuckled over the poster images, but I'll say that some people appear to need constant reminders that, this is just a game. I'm an early beta tester too and I've had a great time playing this game despite the parts of it that may be less than ideal from my perspective.

I completely agree with my guildie, @kevlarto_ESO that if the game becomes unfun then I will simply move on and keep the great memories I've had. From what I've seen looking at Update 6 on PTS, I expect to continue to have fun for quite awhile.

Sad thing is I understand what you meant @WhiskyBob - I just think that the "veterans" are becoming the vocal minority and no body cares. The current state is either embrace the change, or shut your mouth. And for what it is worth, I think that ZOS is so focused on console that all PC players are going to have to sit for the time being. I mean, we get 1.6 to play with, so it is ready for console, but anything else is going to have to wait. I am not saying the game sucks and I want to quit, just that the overall shift seems to be away from the sub people to focus on the console people, then to the B2P people, then maybe it will come back around?

You might not say it... but I will.. the game is stale... the obvious path is to milk money from console users with DLC and cash shop items. Hell, even SWTOR releases content... I haven't seen anything new here in waaaaay too long.

I didn't say it wasn't fun. But, it is surely stale. The content we have now was all slated at release... a YEAR ago.... so, make your trite comments, but it doesn't change the fact that we have had very little content since launch.

(And... no, game mechanic revamps are not content.)
