Some (most) you will find give you far too little information to identify where the treasure is: e.g., I had a map that indicated a treasure chest was adjacent to a river and a bridge with a certain tree configuration nearby. In that particular zone, I visited every river/stream/bridge location there was (took a while) and there was nothing that matched anywhere... also no treasure chest.

Yeah, so, some physical copies still have the preorder bonuses from last year. Meaning, you crack one of those boxes open and you get a Scuttler pet, the ability to roll any race in any alliance (except Imperial), and some treasure maps that have (usually) two blues in them. (I don't know if the CE chests can drop purples, I haven't seen it happen.)
If you're buying digitally; you're not going to get that because, well, you're not preordering the game. That simple. Customer support isn't going to be able to help you because it's not something you're supposed to get anymore. If you really want one, your only options are to buy a code third party (which I can't really recommend, because of scammers) or grab a physical box that advertises it has the Explorer Pack in it (which is going to be expensive).
Sorry.

In The Rift? IIRC that one is right outside Nimalten. Port to the wayshrine and move North towards the water and then left when you get to the path. The mound should be right past a large rock to your right as you approach the bridge.
If that's not it, let me know which map. I'm not too familiar with the AD zones, but I have memorized the location of pretty much every map in EP and most in DC.

That was months and months and months ago. I don't even remember which one of my toons had it... but it was the last straw and I've simply discarded (never picked up) EVERY treasure map I've found as loot since then.
They're not worth the time to track down.
I explore a lot (not as much with my VR toons since I've already seen all the areas) and I will typically find 20+ treasure chests in a zone just from casual exploration. Along the shorelines especially... so, why bother using a treasure map to find something I'm going to find plenty of anyway?

Actually if you look around you can find copies with the explorer pack code for $25-30, I bought mine 4 months ago on Amazon. I was curious so I looked the other day there are still some advertised for sale. The map chest came in the in game mail, if you are smart you will selectively take the maps out as you need them. If your not smart you will hit take all and then have inventory issues right away. The loot isn't anything special but it is a nice addition from a role-playing perspective. I agree with the comment up the unhelpful picture describing the location, but there is a couple nice add on that mark your map with a big red X showing you the coordinates. I only saw one that was blatantly off as it showed it being in the water, the rest get you within ten meters of the treasure or so.

In any case, there are PLENTY of treasure chests to find in the game if you just explore and I never saw any difference in the quality of loot in the chests. I open the chests just for the little bit of XP they give, to get items I can deconstruct for crafting, and for the occasional soulshard. The gold is minimal.
So, don't stress over treasure maps.
Grab the lost treasure addon. It sticks a nice large red X on your map for any treasure map (or crafters survey) you get your hands on. I don't even look at the maps most of the times these days, I just run for the X, grab the stuff, and head off to vendor it.

Well that just takes all the fun out of treasure maps!
