Why not release updates to PC before Consoles?

According to latests interviews of Paul Sage & announcements, we are unlikely to see any update to the game before the 4th quarter/end of the year and the current idea of ZOS is to release updates to PC & consoles at the same time.

But why?

It's no secret that PC players have beta tested the game for consoles, we're gonna beta test Champion System before console launch and many of the game breaking bugs have been fixed (except those that obviously have no fix like Cyrodil) while we endured them.

So my question is, why not continue? No matter what happens and unless you change the way you test your releases, we will always have bugs. Might as well release on PCs when content is ready (such as the Imperial City and new Solo zone you where supposed to release in updates 6 and 7 and that should be ready), that way we can test it on PC, report the bugs and you can, once again, deliver decent content to console players thus earning more money.

It's a win win for everybody and it would also keep PC players from unsubbing after 1.6 is live and then waiting for a new DLC to be released which translates to even more money for you ZOS!!!

Learn to quote? How about linking the interview or at least naming that source? +1 for another pointless panic thread...

They pretty much said: "Forget about new content even after console release because we need for console to settle down" (unless you live in an imaginary world where "console settles down" means less than 3 months this means nothing till end of this year)

+1 for an other guy asking for quotes and sources instead of using the forum search function to get some knowledge on a subject before bashing people who actually have done their homework.

I would say that @Smaxx is right. This is just another pointless panic thread.

There is nothing in the two references that says no updates until Q4 or next year. It says that updates will not be released at the same pace as 2014. But I guess we should not let facts interfere with opinion.

There is also no evidence to say that we beta tested for console. So this is not a "fact". We had a choice: pay to play, or dont subscribe. If you subscribed, you made a choice. I chose to subscribe because I enjoy the game. If others chose to pay for testing, that is their problem. I encountered the Molag Bal game stopping bug. While I was not happy about it, I hung in until it was fixed. I "chose" to continue playing because I knew it would be fixed. I rolled an alt at the time. I experienced other bugs as well. No big deal. Get over it.

Some people keep saying that Imperial city and new zones are ready. Well, if they are ready as claimed, why would they not release them? Any marketing student would advise them to release one of these "completed" modules soon after release. If I remember correctly, some people got to level 50 within a week of ESO release. I expect the same to happen with console release.

Finally, with respect to the source, the person making the assertion has the burden of proof. None was provided in the OP. Furthermore, it is difficult to search a "no release" or "no updates" when there has been no such statement. Only hyperbolic assumptions and assertions. No evidence is presented in those threads to support your assertions.

So yes, Smaxx is right. Pointless panic that could have been addressed in either of the two January topics you linked. A new thread was not even needed. After a while, the sky is falling threads get old. However, they can be entertaining on a slow day at work.

    Q4 starts in September.

It will take about 2 to 3 months for the console release to settle which puts us in september or august if we're lucky.

Anything else is just wishful thinking like when people thought the game was doing well and had enough subs to be considered healthy.
