Interesting approach. I thought they layout was pretty good with different types of area's represented.
North you have some cold area's with snow and great hiding spots.
South lots of marsh looking areas and plenty of tree's to hide around/behind.
Generally, in many MMO's, PVP areas have been kept bland for one simple reason - lag. Less textures - less lag.
In big battles during peak times people already complain about unbearable lags and FPS drops, having a lush fauna, detailed nature and animal life would severely worsen the problem for people with mediocre PC's.
Maybe many people do have good PC's, but they have to cater to the lowest common denominator and leave it at failsafe state, as to not make it unplayable for certain people.
I rather have a bland map and many players than a beautiful landscape with forests and deer but with few players.
Same thing is in Lord of the Rings online. The landscapes, scenery and textures/objects in normal PvE areas are beautiful, but as soon as you go to Ettenmoors (the PvP map), it looks like you suddenly entered a cheap Korean MMO made in 2002. And it is exactly for the same reason - to reduce the loading times and strain on people's computers. They have hard enough time rendering dozens (on a rare occasion even hundred) players, their skill animations and movement/gear, when slaughtering each other, without having to process scenery and surroundings on top of it all.
They've reached the point in Cyrodiil where they're removing deer and torchbugs in order to improve performance. Adding new textures or anything at all complex is probably out of the question.
No bravil or lady luck statue make homer go crazy!
Wrong, I got onto the Island, and we found a spot to get inside, I had a friend come over to help us on his EP character, we we're going to use Volcanic Rune and Dragon leap to get inside, sadly there is an invisible wall over the top of Bravil that prevents you from doing that... Still, getting on the island is fun... Especcially since it's surrounded by random walls that teleport you back to your gate, meaning if a DC or EP ran the scroll out of the gate, took a hard turn right, and ran straight towards Bravil while staying on the south side of the river, they could skip the entire scroll run and teleport back to their gate. It's almost sad how overlooked that was.....
Yeah, if they don't I'm just going to keep abusing the Horse glitch until I get inside Bravil... Sadly, we can't fly, so getting onto Skyreach Temple won't be possible, second coolest place I've gotten in Cyrodiil has been out of the map and onto the side of the river across from Drakelowe, nothing much over there of any interest but I can see them fixing the bridge eventually and adding another zone for PvErs. At least that's what it looks like it's laid out for, aside from Cyrodiil I've glitched my way into some half finished village in Reapers March (Out of the map) and gotten outside Malabal Tor and Grahtwood. Outside Malabal Tor there's some Ayleid ruins way way way way out of the map, and a castle that's sort of finished. It's not any known architecture in the game either, which makes me wonder... Sadly I deleted the pictures... As of 1.5 the way to get outside Malabal Tor isn't patched yet, so if you ever wanna see it toss me a PM on the forums or a mail in game and I can show you, can't do it now though, no PC atm

I do hope they unlock these areas eventually.

However getting outside Grahtwood had to be the best...It's been patched, sort of, I can't get around the Slaughterfish anymore. But you see the house in the bottom right? (Stronghold that you have to jump in, everyone thinks it's part of the DB or Thieves Guild) Basically you hug that, and swim south of that hugging the cliffface until you get the beach, then you just hop up and walk all the way around the map, you can actually get inside a "dead" Malabal Tor zone, where the Orc Encampment is, there's no load screen, no NPCs, no doors to houses that you could get in, some of the terrain is missing, I went into a cave, came around the corner, and there was no more cave, it just ended and you could jump off into the blue sky beneath the map, if I ever rank up retreating maneuvers I can try to swim around the fishies, but as of 1.5, you can no longer use potions or heal while swimming, and they ALWAYS do 20% of your health, so there isn't much you can do to get around them except swim like hell.
Honestly I haven't spent any time in the Pact zones in a while, but when I get a new PC I'd be up for trying to glitch into, or out of, some areas, Eastmarch grabs my attention, up by Windhelm and around it, then theres Riften and The Rift. Also that place in Eastmarch down near the bottom right, actually that reminds me... I didn't walk very far out, but I did climb the mountain someplace in Eastmarch and get a beautiful view, it was technically outside of the map but there wasn't anything but more snowy mountains and the checkerboard wasteland so I didn't go scout it out... Totally forgot about that... One of my friends' was with me and I remember him swearing in TS when he fell... Cause it was a tall ass mountainYeah, if they don't I'm just going to keep abusing the Horse glitch until I get inside Bravil... That is all very interesting info! They have certainly started building other areas then.
Are there any areas of Skyrim that you can glitch into or get into by other means? I am extremely fascinated by all of this.
I agree. Though in Lord of the Rings Online there is more variety in biomes, which I state from experience. The forests have taller trees and feels more crowded, even if there aren't that many trees. You also have the corrupted lands which look completely different from the plains. The plains in LotRO also have more rocks and variety in the height in landscape.
90% sure Cyrodiil is the largest, Craglorn is 2nd largest imo but I could be wrong... Craglorn might not be truly be the 2nd biggest but that cliff that cuts it in half makes it feel like it takes for ebber to get around.I agree. Yeah, there's definitely more Biomes, but nontheless, they are very basic in construction and complexity, they are far less detailed and textured compared to PVE areas.
As to rocks and heights - yeah, there's definitely more rocks (i even know a few exploits and out-of-bounds areas in the cliffs xD). But then again, Ettenmoors is a small dot in size compared to Cyrodiil. It is one of the largest (if not the largest) map in the game. Filling it up with things you mentioned would be horribly taxing, not to mention increase in loading times and size of the client, that's without even mentioning performance and player battles inbetween.
I get your point though, but beauty sacrifices need to be made for the sake of performance.

Also, if you think I'm lying... Gimme two weeks max to get my PC back and I'll personally show you everything, so long as it isn't patched, and if you still don't believe me.. Well.. Pancakes!
