cloak, hidden, and detection pots

So I was wondering for awhile now. Why does detection pots see through cloak? I mean, it makes sense to see someone who is hidden, it's not magic. It's just a person crouched hiding. Cloak on the other hand is a magical ability that makes you invisible. To me, it's an NB's only real escape. So why have pots that are able to see through it? It's like having a pot that allows my attacks to go through reflective scales or a potion that allows me to negate a shield buff or a potion that allows me to travel to the exact location a sorc streaks. I mean, I use detection pots A LOT, and even against fellow NB's, but honestly I'd give that up if it meant being able to stay cloaked and unseen when someone pops a detection potion. It's more annoying than anything. I'd even still be okay if a detection pot let you see someone who used an invisibility potion since they are both potions and have equal power. Any idea if this is changing in 1.6? It's not a huge deal but it is a bit odd IMHO.

Detection potions generally counter any invisibility effect. It doesn't seem that strange to me. There's no real point to them without that.

it's the fact it directly hampers a class skill is what isn't right. I bet if there was a pot that made it so something like immovable wouldn't work people would be up in arms because more people use it, where as only NB's use cloak.

There are pots that make plenty of class CC abilities not work. And there are other things (like potions) that can make people invisible. A detection potion is useless if it can't detect invisible things.

There is only one and it's unstoppable and it last for 3 seconds. 4 if you want only unstoppable. Plus the person is still doing damage just not knocking you down or disabling you. I don't know, i just don't consider that a balanced trade.

For some reason, ZOS thinks cloak is the most powerful skill in the game so they support limitations on it that go far beyond limitations of other class skills

Is it a trade? They're two totally separate mechanics.

Forget detect pots, just use your own pots to break cloak:

    Oh my god...

    Every patch. Every f'in patch.

It becomes more & more broken.

Do you have anyone working on the cloak issues, @ZOS_JessicaFolsom , @ZOS_GinaBruno ?
If so, they would probably want to take a look at this, and add it to the long, long list of Dark Cloak/Shadowy Disguise issues.

ZOS, you need to make sure Shadow Cloak (and its morph's) are fully fixed before you convert this game to Console, console players dont like broken mechanics or bugs like this, let alone Sony or Microsoft....

Not only that but they are also adding a new PvP ability,

    Revealing Flare:

This new ability will cast a projectile to travel to a specified location, which will reveal all enemies within 10 meters.

Lingering Flare (morph): The area of effect will persist for 4 seconds after the ability is cast.
Scorching Flare (morph): Using this ability will place a damage over time on any revealed enemies.

While this will help with crouched ppl, it once again further marginalizes true invisibility. At the VERY LEAST this should not apply to a NBs skill.

Oh and did you know that Invisibility pots can last upwards of 20 secs AND you can use them to steal because they don't break on the steal attempt (unlike a NBs ability that was re-coded to break)

Can I get a big, "SCREW YOU" Zenimax? (or more like screw NBs  )

It looks to me like Shadow Cloak is more like a magician's or a ninja's smoke bomb vanishing trick than a traditional wizard's invisibility spell. Just going by the animation here.

I could totally understand some of the things that break Shadow Cloak if it is viewed in that light by the developers.

I wonder if the community and the devs need to have a meeting of the minds on this skill before any resources are thrown at it, then once everyone agrees on how it should work, development can proceed.

    /sigh

I am on warning level 2, so i cant make a huge cuss filled rage post about this:D

the worst thing about this though, is that I am not surprised:(

why even use cloak anymore; 90% of the things in this game break it.

Nightblades have a skill that makes them invisible?

I always thought that skill was just there to make us loose magicka, do a weird animation and not go invisible anyways.
