Feature Request: Hide Crafting Quests

I'm not into crafting at all (I have no problem with people that are into it, it's just not my thing) - but now every time I'm in a town my compass is besieged with crafting writ quests. I would like a check-box somewhere to hide these as it adds to an already 'noisy' compass (especially if I'm picking up regular quests).

I love doing the crafting writs (well, the consumables ones anyway), but I'd like this too. I'd like it to be for all dailies. Personally, though, I'd be just as happy if it was a different-looking quest giver marker for the daily quests. I'd just like to be able to tell at a glance if the quest giver marker I see is some quest I haven't done yet that's unique to the area, or if it's a daily.

Yes agreed - I sometimes (actually quite often) do writs and will pick them up and do them, and I like the fact that they are in the game, but when I have a character who gets to a new town it is as you say just extra noise on the compass. Either allow us to turn them off, or have a different compass marker so we can tell the difference between a 'quest' quest, and a 'crafting' quest.

I think it would make more sense if these were actually different markers, as @UrQuan suggests so that way they are there but I can at least ingore the ones that I see which I have no interest in.

A toggle would be nice, but then still not make any distinctions between them if they are all on.

Other games I have played have different markers for repeatables and also different looking markers on repeatables if you already did them once that day, if they are on cool down, etc.

I agree with OP crafting writ arrow irritate me and I don't do them so being able to turn them off would be aweome.
That which we obtain to cheap we esteem to lightly, it is dearness only that gives everything its value.

This can hide just crafting writ board pins - among every other pin in the game. It's fully customizable.

I'm trying out Pinkiller and it seems to work but also having some small UI issues on occasion (reload/rezone seems to fix but happens more than without the add-on).

    Notes on PinKiller:
    • It's a nice idea but causes some display issues for in-world icons in particular.
    • It's very incomplete. It only hides crafting writ pins in area's that are pre-defined in the code. This is a short list of only 3 towns so far.
    • With Update 6, marked as out of date.

My brother and I were just talking about this, and would love to see such an option -- or failing that, an addon which can do the same thing without causing problems.

+1 For ZOS to make it toggleable or different

-1 For having to use an addon (again) to get around something simple
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

I'm always careful to watch for quest markers, and these are annoying. Even if the symbol was different it would help.

    I agree with the OP.
Whenever I enter a town, I think "oh, a new quest.. aww, no, it's just these damn crafting writs again"..

I figured these quest markers are gone (obviously) when you pick up these quests; when you just don't complete them, the markers won't show up anymore. But for this we need a journal/questlog which can hold more than 25 quests at a time OR we pick them up when we've completed most of all the other quests from starter to gold zones.

    yes, please.
Ive got one character with a crafting writ in a crafting skill (alchemy) he doesnt use any more. I do not want to see that quest marker every time... or to see the quest in my journal.
I'd be happy with a way to cancel my alchemy writ, too.

This sounds like a job for an addon. I wonder if it's possible? I bet it is.

Bolded part there, I might be misunderstanding but you can cancel any quest in your Journal. Just highlight it and hit x then e to confirm.

If you mean drop the entire Certification thing, then yes you're right, you can't. Alchemy writs, however are one of the best and most profitable you can do. Flowers always sell for good gold. I do them on 5 characters every day.

It's something you might consider :)
