Show both weapon sets, option wanted.

I will bring this old idea back to the table after i visited Skyrim a bit and still loved "Armed to the teeth" mod...

I think players should have option to see both weapon sets they have equipped, at least on client side.

Would make sense to carry those items somewhere.. One biggest reason for me having same weapons on both sets is that i hate stuff that poofs out of nowhere.. I think if i have a bow, it would make sense to have daggers as close encounter weapons but i just can make myself bear the visual lack of those items missing until they poof out of somewhere.. Shield and sword, would make sense to have dagger as spare weapon.. Or 2 hander in the back under the shield to carry that massive blade somewhere..

Clipping issues would exist for sure, but i think it has no bearing on this as players could use their own discretion to either show that other weapon or hide it...

What do you think?

    I like it.

The only problem I could see offhand would be conflicts between ranged weapons and two-handed weapons or shields clipping through each other when stowed, but aside from that, it would be pretty cool.

Given all the many, many changes our perpetually-overworked friends at ZOS are already doing with the game, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for something like this (or being able to see weapons while mounted) to make it into the game.

However, if it did, I think it would be pretty sweet. B)

There is small addon @ESOUI which corrects this problem, cant remember the name though but works like a charm :)

In case of shields overlapping each other, this being optional, simply turn the thing off and they wont do that again :)
In my opinion.. The whole weapon change "animations" or "loading cached graphics" when using exact same weapons in each slot should not happen in the first place.

I think that it would be a waste of developer resources, because, as mentioned, it would probably look quite ugly with all the clipping going on.

I'm aware that a select few people "wouldn't care" (I put it in quotation marks because they'd be whining about it on the forums within minutes of the addition). That doesn't change the fact that it's a waste of time and money for the developers with very little payoff for the players.

I disagree about the very little payoff @nerevarine1138 . In video games a lot of payer immersion is made up of little things that together add up to being such a bigger deal than they are individually. Adding this might be the one thing that makes that player become overly impressed with ESO and will make them want to return.
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
    That's right... Horse.

I didn't mean to imply that a polished version of this mechanic wouldn't be nice for a number of players (although I highly doubt people would come back because of this). But given the overwhelming issues that would be faced in eliminating ugly clipping problems, I don't see it being worth the developers' time.

As was mentioned earlier, there's really no good way to institute this system without a lot of weapon sets experiencing severe clipping problems (i.e. two sets of the same weapon type, two-handed and bows, two-handed and staves, etc.). I'm sure someone could come up with creative ways around some of those issues, but it's such a minor aesthetic change that it doesn't seem worth it.

Makes me think of that Skyrim mod that lets you walk around, looking like some sort of one man weapons cache.

    Not a good look lol.

I would love to see this implemented. Clipping is always a challenge - back weapons could be deal with by layering (though I hate to see weapons floating suspended off my back) - especially with side weapons, DW daggers and swords? where do they go?

Still, if they could make it look good that would be an amazing addition.

As an option, like the helmet toggle, this could be fantastic. Even in cases where you'd run the risk of some clipping, (like with a greatsword + bow combo, or sword n' board + staff combo).

I concur... it would be nifty to have the option.

Of course... it would also be nice to have more weapon placement options as well. Anyone who wants to carry their dual swords in an cross backsheath style for the ninja feeling? (If we had sheaths for our weapons, that is) Or their dual daggers in boot sheaths? Have your quiver at your hip instead your back? Etc.

Or more alternate weapons... I for one would love for my sorceror to have a choice between staff, wand or runestone for destructive magic... or my nightblade to replace her bow with a crossbow...

The main problem about this is that you would not able to tell which weapon you had currently equipped, since your skill bar is not visible when not in combat. You would have to open the skill ui to know.

I agree that it would look pretty cool with several weapons, but it would also look clunky if you for example had a sword and shield and a bow. I think it is fine as it is.

This I agree with though. There could be sold various weapon skins in the crown store, where you could equip for example a runestone to replace the visual of a staff. This would also change the animation when you use the skills, but not the skills themselves. It would be purely visual, so it would fit in the crown store.

might i strongly remind you that i am talking about optional stuff here, something you can toggle on or off for those that think this idea might make you look somehow wrong :)

One solution would be to alter the way the weapon draw mechanic works, so that instead of switching, you had a different draw key for each weapon. Though, it wouldn't help if you tried to start combat by activating a power.

I would just have atleast 2 different placements of both weapons that will minimize the clipping for each.

I'll list out my suggestions as 2ha (meaning first 2hander) and 2hb (meaning second 2hander). All like weapon sets will be similar in layout (2h, shield, dw, staff)

    2ha - current placement.
2hb - just below current placement.
    shielda - current placement.
shieldb - over the left shoulder and angled in a bit (as if slung).
    dwa - current placement.
dwb - crossed near neck, below shielda position, similar when casting crystal fragments while dual wielding.
dwc - both horizontal beneath shielda position, hilts to the outside of waist.
dwd - (daggers only) on leg of boots.
    staffa - current position
staffb - just below current placement.
staffc - crossing current position, top of staff near right waist.
staffd - crossing current position below staffc position, top staff near right waist.

Using the combinations of 2h, shield, dw and staves, you'd get a setup of possibilities in the following with my recommended treatments:

    2h + 2h = 2ha + 2hb
    2h + shield = 2ha + shielda, 2hb + shieldb
    2h + dw = 2ha + dwa, 2ha + dwb, 2ha + dwd, 2hb + dwb, 2ha + dwd, 2hb + dwd
    2h + staff = 2ha + staffb, 2ha + staffd, 2hb + staffa, 2hb + staffc
    shield + shield = shielda + shieldb
shield + dw = shielda + dwa, shielda + dwb, shielda + dwc, shielda + dwd, shieldb + dwa, shieldb + dwd
dw + dw = dwa + dwb, dwa + dwc, dwa + dwd, dwb + dwc, dwb + dwd, dwc + dwd
dw + staff = dwa + staffa, dwa + staffc, dwb + staffb, dwb + staffd, dwc + staffa, dwc + staffb, dwd + staffa, dwd + staffc
staff + staff = staffa + staffb, staffa + staffc, staffb + staffc, staffb + staffd, staffc + staffd

If it looks like i'm missing some options, I am, because i thought they would create too many clipping concerns.

FYI: there is a setting in the interface options to set the skill bar to: always on / automatic (default) / always off.

    Agreed.
I'm also of the mind that the bottomless inventory should be removed in favor of more realistic dungeon loot such as gemstones and gold, though. I enjoy realism, the more the better.
Obviously there is a cut-off and I don't expect my opinions to make it to the game, it's too much for some people, but cosmetic realism is enough for me.
