What does the 'use' menu do on a reagent plant?

Right click, select use on a plant in your inventory. It destroys it, but does it have a chance to learn a trait of the plant?

    Yes it has a chance to learn a trait. I believe you can only learn 1 trait per plant that way.

    Correct, 'using' a plant teaches you the first trait. And it's too bad only one trait can be learned this way. :/

    TBH if you could learn all traits simply by eating, leveling alchemy would be more trivial than it already is.
