Streamers Etiquette

So this is my take on it at least:

If you're a streamer:
  • Cover the zone chat with an image
  • If you're in group, be upfront that you're streaming, and see if the group leader is cool with that, and if they're cool with you being in their TS.
  • A delay of a couple minutes is nice, at least if you're in group

If you're not a streamer:
  • Don't be a prick. Streamers are good for the game and good for PvP.
  • Don't blame streamers for your shortcomings.

If I don't know you and see you are not DC then you better expect me to come and stream snipe you. It's only common curtesy.

I wish there was no delay.. Although my situation is different.

I cover up the chat box as I am a guild leader and you never know what will be whispered to you, as well it allows a private way of communication in game.

I always ask other members if they are okay with being heard on twitch. As well created a "streaming" room on TS3 so people just coming in won't automatically be included into the stream - they can choose to come join in the stream chat.

@Princess_Asgari if you ever catching me pvping (once every 3 months maybe?) Feel free to "stream snipe" me. A foolish PvE player such as myself will probably lead you in the completely wrong direction.. Not to spite you.. Just because I have no idea what I am doing. Lol

[EDIT] Sorry for off topic PvE chatter, got here from 'recent discussions' and just realized it was in the PvP forum. On that note.. If I were to actually play PvP seriously as a streamer.. I would think I would also cover up my minimas with an image, maybe as far as the compass too? Although really I don't think it should be necessary.. Streamsniping is the same as sending spies into enemy territory. Its unfortunate.

You can always come fight on fair terms whenever you get bored of divebombing streamers. <3

A few other items to consider:

    - If you're following a group your not grouped with make sure they are making their presence known and are headed toward active battles. Nothing as bad as giving away that someone is trying to flag or 50/50 a keep
    - if your watching a streamer of the opposite faction and using it to announce names, locations, and numbers; don't. the information is typically useless, given delays and tactics, but your just promoting exploiting.
    - if you are following behind a streamer for something please don't ask to stage battles or trade kills. It's kinda lame regardless of streaming. Askin for duels or to test out a build is fine however.

    Now from personal experience:

Typically I won't join public groups when streaming. While I can get the agreement of the leader and current members, new folks will join in and start dictating what can and can't be said. If there is a teamspeak as well you never know what person is going to jump in and start spurting off some racist slur or other crap off hand. I do love you public groups, but I can't be with ya all the time =s

Guild groups are a little better to go with, but a lot tend to have "tactics" they don't want others to know, so some streamers have to just play loud dusted the wholeft time and never interact with stream. Good for a youtube highlight, but not great for streaming. If your guild/friends are a bit less serious about it this can be pretty good though, nothing like laughing about the last good fight, regardless if you won or lost.

Be open and if you feel you need to hide your build, your campaign, your location, or your tactics; ask yourself if you should be streaming. There is nothing wrong with being a little private at times, but when you stream expect that anything you want to hide someone can find out. If you need to cut something out because it's a tactical secret or something, maybe make a youtube highlight instead. If you stream expect that some of your chat room interaction will be "how did you do that?" Finally If your hiding something because it might be an exploit, then simply don't do it. It's much more fun if you die honestly than if your flipping the stream off and one while trying to do some mega hit kill that no one will see or understand.

Maybe this would be the place to ask as well: promoting the stream in zone chat, good or bad? I know it seems like shameless self promotion, but it's also to let folks outside of the group know that if they see me, maybe even more can see me as well.

Meh I dunno about PROMOTING you are streaming in zone. When you enter the zone I would say let people know you are there and are streaming, but not like a continued commercial for your stream.
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.
