My thought is that it must be much harder to do a dye system on weapons/shields than it is for armor. Probably due to how much the weapons/shields actually interact and effect other players/npc's.

But yea, if at all posible, give the weapons/shields a dye job.
As a casual player I was satisfied that at one point I had a char max level and near max crafting with almost all motifs and I pretty much lost interest. Then ESO discovered DLC's and now my main is just a wanabe and I am happily pulled back into the game.

They stated they didn't want people running around with pink swords or other absurd'y colored weaponry... which is understandable... however considering when you craft a weapon up to legendary.. it turns purple, I would say the ability to dye weapons would be nice

I made a dwemer resto staff because I wanted that nice brass staff that looked like it had been plundered from the ruins... upgraded it and it basically turned purple... I was pretty sad. I just wanted to dye it back to that wonderful dwemer brass color.

I would say just lock off the "non metal" colors if at all possible... so we don't have to see pink swords everywhere, and the obvious joke "I call it the penetrator "

Shields especially. I wish my shield would match my armor.

    Right ...

I agree we need to get rid of the purple. But Zeni should be able to set the textures/shaders/transparency layers so that certain parts of the weapon or shield either get no color treatment or minimal color treatment.

Sort of like how you try to dye certain armors now but the colors won't "take" and your left with something that looks nothing like you thought it would - because of how the texture/shaders in-game are reacting to your color choice.

Also there's one set of armor where you can't dye certain parts (like it's left out of the alpha layer or whatever). They could do that to the metal ... but then we'd be stuck with legendary purple weapons.

This is something they are looking into.... but I'm sure it's not a priority.
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.

Well, they could limit the color choices of the weapons to steely looking colors (no pink, red, blue, purple, or green). I would like to see this implemented simply because voidstone looks ridiculous in my opinion. I'd rather not swing around a giant blueberry. A nice windhelm steel blade would be nice.

What about separate dye colors only for weapons? then they can leave out the pink and stuff

I honestly don't understand what's wrong with pink weapons. I mean, it's not worse than pink armor, is it? And that is allowed.

Anyhow, shield dyes are a must.

I'm of the opinion that it is never ok to wear bright pink... for any reason... ever, but I also don't think my opinion should preclude other people being able to do so.

Seeing someone hopping around in similarly bright colour schemes usually causes me to leave the area but that is no reason why, if it is an armour dye colour, it shouldn't be a weapon/shield dye. Sadly.

I mentioned it before... all they need to do it put in a limiting option for the "business parts" of swords, axes, or whatever to only take metal colors. From Dwarven Bronze over Orichalcic to Windham Steel, that would still leave more then enough colors to match the theme of ones armor, and escape the purple metal blades...

Shields on the other hand would need full coloring to match armor. And possibly even a heraldric option so you can match them to your guild tabard or make up your personal knightly stuff... I mean, just look at most of the shields throughout history, be it ancient greeks or high middle ages knights... painted, decorared, whatever...
