ESO Plus, DLC and Crown Price - we need to know.

In order for a customer base to know whether or not they are getting value for money a service provider needs to be transparent in what they are offering.

From the rather sparse 'Road Ahead'

ESO PLUS
The easiest way to take advantage of the Crown Store and Tamriel Unlimited is to be an ESO Plus member. As a member, you'll get bonuses to many in-game leveling systems (experience point gain, inspiration gain for crafting, etc.), 1500 crowns to spend in the Crown Store each month, and access to all DLC game packs for the duration of your membership. Existing ESO PC subscribers will automatically be enrolled in ESO Plus when Tamriel Unlimited launches, so no further action will be required to become a member if you're a subscriber at that time.

******

Thing is though - how can we decide about whether or not to subscribe when we don't know how much DLC is planned or how much Crowns cost? Also - the other perk - exp/insp - total junk.

I recommend ZOS you go over to EQ2 and there you can see some decent reasons for subbing per month.

Unless 1500 crowns costs £10 there is no reason to sub currently as there is no DLC being discussed, no real 'Road Ahead' information that we didn't already know and certainly nothing to make people really feel Plus is worthwhile.

Also, on another note - what is to stop someone playing for free, then, when DLC gets released, subbing for a month to play it, then after completing the content, unsubbing again?

Judging by your posting history and charming threads you started you will pay whatever price tag they put on, so you really don't need to know.

Crowns look to be $1 per 100 on the PTS ( Imperial upgrade is 2100 Crowns). So you get $15 in Crowns per month.

So basically you want a company to disclose its trading plans ahead of time, so the customers can start making the most sensible choice for their own wallets.

I think you have your answer right here on the 'why' behind the lack of information. I think it is safe to say that this game/ZOS will now try cashing in on the consoles and the PC is no longer of much added importance. The PC gamers have paid for development of this game, have beta tested it, and the console gamers get to reap the benefits at box price.

The lack of information only underlines this. ZOS knows that we will sub whenever we like to see some DLC content, and they introduced TU as the placeholder to satisfy 'us' as early adopters with a 10% bonus and lots of coins without any value to them to spend every month on crap nobody really needs. The few extra bucks they will make off the Crown store and DLC's that are being bought, combined with the fools who will stay subbed for the lousy benefits, will be enough to keep servers up and add some sparse content here and there, and the game will survive, and that's all she wrote..

To those that screamed P2W because of some XP potions, you really didn't get the truth behind XP boosting: it is worthless because CP progression will have horrifiying diminishing returns. No one will cap CP and no one is supposed to, it is an inifinite time sink that seemingly justifies the 10% XP bonus for veteran players, but really you get nothing substantial for your monthly payment. All we get is empty currency, temporary content and a bonus nobody cares about.

That is the bottom line of things, no matter how you twist it, so I wouldn't worry too much about future pricing schemes. Everyone is stuck in an endless time sink with no content to back it up, so yeah.

I think I finally found someone more cynical than me. :hushed:

    A really good post though.
