I don't want to dye them but rather changing or customizing the art-work would be preferred.

100% agree. I hate that my shield has to be (2 shades of) purple. It sticks out like a sore thumb with my armor color scheme, and there's nothing I can do about it.

Coming to a Crown store near you soon.

Seriously though, i have been waiting for shield dyes since the dye system was first released, don't expect it any time soon.

Day 1 purchase for me if access to a shield and weapon dye vendor is sold at the store. The ridiculousness with costumes/mounts/pets overshadows any worry people could have with a pink dagger

I think I heard Paul Sage say somewhere that he and the others in the dev team had issues with seeing people running around with pink sword and shields. I tend to agree with him.

But they're working on spellcrafting, so .... priorities.

    Oh, and jewelry crafting, too....

I don't believe anything anymore that's said by the company about this game. If they say something, and it comes to pass - I'll just assume it's an unrelated coincidence.

    So would I.
But for one, they could easily solve that by limiting what dyes can color the "business parts" of a weapon...
And for another, some of the weapon colors aren't that far off from pink. There are swords in the game already only the purple marauder could love...

And shields... those should be colorable, and heraldry-cable. You know, like they were pretty much since the very beginning of shields. Doesn't matter if you go roman empire with lightning bolts or medieval knights with their coat of arms... shields get painted and otherwise embellished. And color-coordinated with the armor. Just not in ESO... yet. Hope they'll remedy that, soon...

Shields should totally be dyed. As it was pointed out earlier, it was done for ages IRL using paint. As it is now shields can tend to look terrible with specific dyes. If they don't want pink shields, they shouldn't allow pink robes either. I mean, I have one character who has her heavy armor dyed all bright pink, why shouldn't her haft on the mace and shield be pink so long as the portion you hit with isn't pink? I get not dying the blade or such but I don't understand why leather grips and things can't be.

I actually have one character sho wears a lot of pink. To match the flower in her hair, naturally. But she is altmer... they are known to have little fashion sense :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

But yeah, if they didn't want eyesores, they should not have let people dye their armor in the first place. And being able to dye your armor is one of the greatest things in ESO to get your individual look. Even if some few may choose to go with bright pink, neon green and sulphur yellow or something like that...

Point it, in for a armor, in for a shield too. And then the weapon is only a afterthought...

Also, they really -could- limit the blade, axehead, etc. to metal dyes only, to prevent people from making themselves neon green swords and starting to babble about the force or something... it would be nifty to be able to match your weapon hilt/haft to your armor though, and have some better choices for your blade then what the crafting station spits out after you add that tempering and so on. And the dye system has enough metal colors available, from windhelm steel to dwarven bronze...

There would be a few pink swords, but the majority would not use such ridiculous things. People had the same worries about the dye system for armor and most armor isn't pink or lavender. Most people dye their armor quite nicey

it would be a great niche for the crown store. just look everyone wants them already, theyve held them back this whole time. surely its just coincidence

They mentioned swords not shields. And it's a ridiculous excuse for any one even the devs to use.

What so people are okay with somebody running around in bright pink armour or a bright white wedding dress but god forbid they have a pink sword? Sorry i am not buying that excuse anymore.

Probably not for a long time, if ever. Likely REAAAAAAALLY low on the priority list right now, so don't hold your breath.

Screw weapon/shield colors. Just add some way to apply guild heraldry to shields. I remember DAoC offering that, it's been awesome, but too few classes being able to effectively use a shield. :)

That would be awesome, but won't ever happen, since people would abuse it either to make stupid jokes (hello, "stout puncturing staff of thrusting"!) or to screw others by selling "fake" items.

If they really said this then they have completely lost touch with what actually goes on in-game.

The same was touted about armour dye as well, but in game next to no one runs about with pink and purple fluoro-esque colours. Their above statement, if true, simply holds no relevance to reality at all.

Yes, totally agree. It's a completely nonsensical argument.
