If ZOS were going to give us titles, who should get them?

In another thread concerning the 100 Crown that subscribers are going to get for each month they were subscribed prior to ESO going B2P @EsORising‌ suggested that we get a title. I think that's a wonderful idea and would really give players that are here now a sense of "history" in ESO.

If ZOS were going to give us titles, to whom should they be given?

Also, what title would you like to be given?

I'm going to go with "I don't think we should get special titles" because it falls in the same line as being a WoW Vet whose played since Beta or whatever. Nobody cares! You're not a special snow flake! It's a game and how much time you've wasted doesn't give you or your opinions any clout. You can still be an idiot and invest the most money and time out of the entirety of the community.

This suggests a title based on nothing but time. The poll choices, and even the few votes cast thus far, show how divisive this would be. Why introduce something that is sure not to sit well with either a few or a lot of players. The more narrow the restriction, the more who will fill stepped on. On the other hand, the wider the date range for the title, the more meaningless it becomes. Best course of action is to only have titles that can be earned through game play.

It's not about when you got here but whether you are still around that counts. The anniversary awards are enough of a recognition.

If they implemented titles for each of those "for titles" options.. then I wouldn't mind and newcomers shouldn't feel burned, many games do this. But then again if they don't do that, well then meh who cares either?

I'd like to see some more titles based on current Achievements.... like there's no Emperor Slayer title??? It's much sexier than "Former Emperor" imo yet the achievement for killing an Emperor of your current campaign has no title --- not even its own color --- the dye is for killing ANY emperor which is more common obviously.

I could go through the Achievements and come up with a slew of titles that should already be there, but that's not my job... ZOS get on it!!!!

Those who were with ESO since the beginning should be rewarded with something more than titles. Unique costumes that are exclusive to those who sypported ESO since its rocky start. This also sends a good precedents by encouraging others to continue to be faithful to whatever ventures they take.

Super unique items that are super exclusives. Also make Veteran costumes veteran specific so that they can never be gained once veteran system fades away. This encouraged more gameplay for those who are into collecting unique things.

The Grand Marshal / unique unobtainable legendary / unique items from WoW that are not obtainable anymore, are looked upon with envy.

I would be more than happy to drop several more grands for items or costumes that are one-time-exclusive and never obtainable in the future.

I play for fun, not for special titles. I don't see the point, and it would only divide the community with some players thinking for no good reason that they were "special".

There are already toys and perks for those categories, I see no value in a title that required me to do nothing more than buy the game or pay to play it during the time it was pay-to-play, it took no exceptional effort and seems entirely designed as something the 'vets' can flaunt at new players in a bit to say "look at me, I'm better than you because I was around pre-release".

As a beta test I have the monkey, as a pre-orderer I have some other pet, as a multi-month subscriber had have other pets, a title really doesn't float my boat for this.

Seriously, it it's not for the e-peen value what would a title be useful for? I'm not a huge fan of titles in any game, I tend to use them for their effect .. in WOW right now I run around with the 'Farmer' title because it amuses me, obtaining it wasn't hard, it has no e-peen value, it amuses me that's all it needs to do .. sadly so far I've 'earned' not title in ESO that's remotely amusing, 'fluffy' or in other way anything but deadly serious which I find entirely uninteresting.

This type of acknowledgement tends to cause an adverse reaction to those who are not a part of those who are given XYZ title for X reasons.

ZOS is on a rocky slope and they really need to put themselves back on stable ground as far as PR. The announcement about mounts for 12 month+ active subscribers has already caused a negative reaction for many.

While I agree that those who decided to support the game financially by setting up and keeping an active subscription is more than appropriate, ZOS has to be careful about how an in-game designation or item as there will be a ripple affect.

Titles exist in the game and ZOS should throw titles out there like they're candy. Because that's what they are... little nuggets that give the player a little bit of an ego boost that have no actual value in any way. They hurt no one, and they don't impact game play at all.

They DO, however, add to perceived vale. A player that has becomed disillusioned with ESO going b2p might be sated just enough by a special title to stay with ESO, so I think they makes it worth the effort it would take to add a title for them.

Seems you are missing the forrest for the trees here. THIS particular kind of title would most definitely fall into the category of deliberately creating even more divisiveness than there already is amongst players over this issue and does not add anything of value to the game.


And as far as you throwing out the "elitist" label yet again..... asking for there to be a title to distinguish yourself from non-subbed players merely because you have subbed and they did not is about as "elitist" as you can get.

There will ALWAYS be people that look down on others... and giving or not giving a title isn't going to make people automatically feel elitist or not. Those people are that way, regardless of something as insignificance as a title.

Titles should be fun and lighthearted and don't always have to be serious badges of conquest. We have the dyes for achievement awards, throw out titles for everything!

I think there should be titles for each VR rank achieved. For farming an insane amount of ore. For killing a whole much of chickens. For pickpocketing a bunch of people. For going X distance while walking/jogging/running on foot AND on horse. For punching a bunch of Guar. For junking X gold worth if items. For opening X number of treasure chests. For swimming X distance whIle wearing nothing.

And yes. For playing the Beta. For playing prior to B2P. Also for NOT playing until B2P.

I think it's not so much that I'm missing the forest, it's that I think the forest could be a lot more "fun".

But, worry not. These title additions will never be added. So the community shall be saved from elitist jerks taking pride in silly things like "being there when...".

Surely if you wanted more titles, just allow you to pick your title via the Achievements you have unlocked. Lot's of variety and choice, but sticking within the game metrics

Achievements are a good way to have titles but we should have more than that.
