Timeline 1E 0 thru 2E 582 (Potential for Cross Faction Grouping)

I apologize this is a long post and I am fully aware it is not a full timeline however it does clear up a lot of discussions people have had in the forums about timelines and lore.

On a side note this timeline holds a great reason for Cross Faction grouping.

2E 572 Was the Start of the Second Akaviri invasion and although it was ended in 2E 572 it doesn't mean there were not other attempts at invasion of Tamriel especially with everyone at each others throats.

So my suggestion is this

Have cross Faction Grouping to bring a halt to the Akaviri invading Tamriel. It fits into the lore and honestly it would be a nice diversion from the stagnating alliance war.

It makes sense that the alliances would in fact send delegates to hinder the invasion since they all want control of Tamriel for themselves.

Eh, possibly, but if the threat of molag bal attacking the 3 leaders themselves and attempting to pulling Nirn as a whole in to cold harbor isn't enough motivation to unite the factions I don't see why a weak Akaviri invasion (which it would have to be seeing as how the armies were wiped out after the Potentate assassination/Vivec water worlding a large portion of a province or the entire army being driven to the sea to drown - depending on who you ask) would make them start working together. If anything the Pact would bear the brunt of it and DC/AD would view it as an opportunity to seize Cyrodiil.

A similar situation would arise where the guilds become responsible for this new threat, but we're still bound to just our faction even though cold harbor was "factionless". I imagine it's more a technical restriction than a story related one.

So why do we still see the anchors dropping in VR zones? Is this just for playability or is there something I missed in the story?

So why do we still see the anchors dropping in VR zones? Is this just for playability or is there something I missed in the story?

I assume those are there to keep people busy and to allow them to get the Tamriel Anchor Destroyer tittle.

Eh, I'm just saying a greater didn't unite them, dunno why a lesser threat would - especially after they've been reassured that a hero with the guilds can protect them while they squabble.

I think it's mostly moot anyway, a lack of storyline isn't keeping us from cross faction grouping, it's more likely a current design restriction. One I'm ok with currently, I'd like to see more gameplay that translates to faction pride than have the walls further torn down. Bitter rivalry between factions was a characteristic I enjoyed a lot in DAoC and WoW.

I agree, ZOS followed Blizzard down the road of utter implausibility here, given the overwhelming threat Molag Bal is, analogous to say Arthas in Lich King, the idea of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" clearly would lead to rationality even in a barbarian Nord and lead to an alliance against a common enemy.

Real world history tends to disagree with you. There are countless examples of nations failing to bad together in the face of a much more powerful common enemy, and letting their petty infighting lead to defeat by that common enemy.

Real world history tends to disagree with you. There are countless examples of nations failing to bad together in the face of a much more powerful common enemy, and letting their petty infighting lead to defeat by that common enemy.
