Craglorn - bots & exploits

If you go to Sandy Path Wayshrine in Craglorn you will find there is almost always a bot standing at the river near the small island targetting Nereids across the water and killing them with light attacks. When the Nereid dies the bot just stands there until another comes in range and it's rinse and repeat all day long. I have already reported some of them. Anyone else seen them?

So that's what it was. Seen that one hitting the nereids the other day and just thought it was some bored player messing about lol.

The bots never totally went away, I saw a pos-hacker in Daggerfall only last evening, but I wonder just what use this bot is to its owner, it'll take months to level doing that, do the Nereids drop anything valuable?

The bot never loots the Nereid. I did manage to kill one by luring some mobs to the bot

So it's simply an XP bot, at least the bots of old ran around killing herds of mobs, but killing just one, that's sad.

I've tried training mobs onto bots when I see one, but it won't work unless the bot attacks the mobs or accidentally hits them with an aoe.

Yep, it has to hit the bot with an AOE. My toon(vr1) nearly died as well.

Yes i also saw it about three weeks ago, when collecting mats. I showed off by soloiing the mobs and even talked to it about a chest on the island. No respons of course.

I thought it was someone figuring out how much damage snipe of it's morph was doingm from a save distance..

what's the point of those bots? Wouldn't you get way more XP just going out and doing things on your own anyway?

Well I hope someone took the time to actually report the bot regardless of what it was doing so that the account could be banned.

Yep, just went there and he is still lying there...been the whole day.

That might happen when there is no account to come and resurrect them. I base this on when I have been disconnected from the server in a dungeon or delve and then come back to a dead character. I would imagine they would be there for a while if I did not log back.

I have seen corpses like this for entire days before.

Point of bots? Usually to do things for some "people" (and i use the term loosely) while they are asleep or otherwise spending their time. In this case, yeah, sounds like someone had the bright idea to farm XP without having to spend any effort by setting some bot to auto-kill some mob over and over again, all day long.

If you see one, kiting some mobs and getting them to aggro it is a good move.

Reporting them if you have more then just a guess that its a bot may be better.

And agreed, i expect we may be seeing more of them come the T-U times. Though maybe not, depending on how the powers that be handle them. Time will tell.

Used to be able to heal a bot to force it in combat and then it aggros the mobs. I had good times bot stomping in Stonefalls/Bal Foyen/Bleackrock doing this shortly after release.

That seems like a very VERY slow way to get XP @_@ and once you DO get the XP you want..then what? You didn't actually play to get it so what are you going to do then?

Agreed, it is silly. But people are doing it and any botting should be banned.

Somehow I think "having your account banned" is slightly more severe than zeroing out their XP gains.

Unless you mean both, which would be the equivalent of, "first, we kill you Mister Bond, then we'll give you a paper cut for the ages."

Same bot is back again. He has now gained another VR rank. (was vr8 last time and is now vr9).

Reported him again. Now to try and see if I can get him killed again :P
