In case you missed it my first part of my player housing system was outlined in this thread
forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/comment/1537232#Comment_1537232
It covered a portable housing system . . . Now I will discuss fixed player housing.
Fixed player housing is what most people think about when they envision player housing. Some sort of housing unit that does not move and can be decorated to player specification and also provide some sort of functionality. The best system for a game like ESO is if fixed housing is instanced i.e. have a menu in your collections for housing displaying what type of house you have, click on that housing and be transported to an instanced location where you can invite your friends and form groups for meetings and other suvh things.
Okay so here would be the features of fixed housing:
Location: Pick a backdrop for your house location. Ex) If I am in the DC I can choose a locale that resembles one of the 5 zones or even starter islands like "Stros M'Kai" "Glenumbra" or Bangkorai"
Terrain: Choose what you want the grounds around your house to look like and have upgrades and additions that can be added by gold purchases or crown purchase. Ex) Maybe I want a house in the AD in Auridon and I want a garden, stone paths, an orchard, and some other decorative land elements.
There would be many terrain options, hopefully, and the ability to design the layou tof your terrain so everyone's house would not look the same. Also cosmetic upgrades like barrels, sheds, statues, etc . . .
The House itself: Here are just some preliminary ideas
1) Hunter style cabin
-A basic home with two rooms
-Furnishing upgrades and options to determine the decoration of the house
- +100 inventory storage upgradeable to +150
- Resting at your house for 5 mins and any friends in your group that you invite to your house who stay in the vicinity for 5 or more mins would get a 5% rested bonus to the stat of their choice for 1 hr (i.e. magicka, health, stamina)
- 2 crafting stations of your choice, upgradeable to 3
- Cosmetic house options, like animals, rustic wood planking, stone cottage look or something else
-Ability to hire a manservant/scribe who will act as a "courier" so that you can take stuff in and out of your bank or guild bank in addition to be able to access your house inventory at the regular bank locations
2) Stone tower
-Two story, small tower with 4 rooms
-Furnishing upgrades and options to determine the decoration of the tower, with embelishments like weapon racks, or stave racks according to the preference if they want it to look like a wizard lab or a warrior keep
-Resting at your tower for 5 mins increases your enlightenment by a certain amount and same for any guests, also get the rested bonus of 5% increase to stat of choice (health, magicka, stamina).
- +150 inventory storage upgradeable to +200
- 3 crafting stations upgradeable to 4
- Cosmetic house options
- Ability to hire a tower scribe (i.e. same as manservant above)
3) Sanctioned Fighter's/Mage's/Thieve's/Darkbrotherhood Guild housing
-Probably 2 or 3 story house, maybe closer in resemblance to a manor with 6 rooms
-Furnishings appropriate to the look of the Fighter's/Mage's/Thieve's/Darkbrotherhood Guild areas players can embelish there house with furnishings according to their preference
-Resting at your guild house for 10 mins increases your enlightment and increases experienced gained by 10% for 1 hr including any other experience bonuses you have currently. Guests also gain these bonuses.
- +200 inventory storage upgradeable to +250
- 4 crafting stations upgradeable to 5
- Other cosmetic house options
- Built in guild representative who performs the same functions as the tower scribe and manservant above
*Player requirements to get a house of this type is that they must be max level in that guild i.e. Fighter skill line 10, Mages skill line 10 Guests may still arrive even if they have not maxed out these skill lines
Once again, players would only be allowed to own 1 fixed house and 1 portable house (i.e. hovel, campsite, horse drawn wagon). If upgrading houses they would have to trade in their current abode for the new one.
Okay that wraps it up. ZOS look at my system and determine if it is viable . . . I think it is very viable and there are options and flexibility with the system to make it work.
Thanks
