Which bugs the crap out of me. Among any group of gamers so presumably devs too, there's bound to be more than a few Vampire fans. The implementation of Vampires in ESO must bother a lot of them too.

I think they are stuck in the modern MMO paradigm. Generic and boring.

This is why there's no sun damage, very little focus on feeding, why we always look like monsters at any stage, and why we have a silly stage system that doesn't scale our weaknesses or strengths but instead scales the cost of skills they've nerfed into uselessness and therefore right off our skillbars.

Even that doesn't cover the feed animation, nothing excuses the feed animation.

Not that there is any good excuse for the rest of it either.

I expect a vampire and werewolf overhaul sometime down the development cycle. Since it's obviously a bit rushed and could be so much more gratifying. Maybe a year from now, it's not that urgent.

Vampire lord should be a special unlock for Guilds that are "assigned" as a Coven and have at one point in time had at least 300 members.

Then it should only be unlocked for the guild owner.

300 members? Dude do you hate us roleplayers? LOL My guild typically sits at under 100 and we're considered a "huge" RP guild. Also, if only guild leaders could unlock it you'd hear the outraged screams in space! LOL

This is why I hope one day there will be a vampire and werewolf DLC. I wish they would make it so that you CAN have abilities and cosmetics that will let you mimic other strains of vampirism!

heh.. ok... 250. :naughty: .. but seriously, it should be a large number to keep it "rare". And it should be locked if the guild is disbanded or falls under a certain number of members.

Vampires have been strong ever since launch, and only within the past few months have they become less useful. Their main attraction has been Mist Form since 2/4 of the classes that exist need it for mobility purposes. This is a poor design because this means that those classes that lack mobility are then at a disadvantage if they don't go Vampire. What should be done is a total revamp of the Vampirism skill line and get rid of Mist Form. Instead add in some sort of Magicka based skill in the Mages Guild tree that is similar to Mist Form and retreating maneuvers so that certain classes aren't forced into Vampirism. The revamp of Vampirism should change it to be in line with WW. These curses shouldn't be designed to be the most practical choice for players, they should force players into a certain play style.

I still disagree. There needs to be some other way to do this rather than lock it to a huge guild. Make it hard to bet, sure, but obtainable to anyone willing to put the time and effort in to go after it.

Anything that JUST requires time and effort will eventually be common, and if it is locked behind a large guild size anyone who is "willing to put the time and effort in to" build such a guild would be able to obtain the status.

What other way would there be that would keep the vampire lord relatively rare? ANY quest line or trial or whatever would just be overrun by people.

Theres only x amount per server, you can choose to infect someone but when doing so you'll lose your lord status and be a regular vamp, the person infected becomes a lord.

That way there only a static amount of vamp lords.

How would the initial lords be chosen? Would a person lose lord status if they don't log in for X number of days?

It would suck for all lords to be stuck on inactive accounts.

I could see it being a "server first" kind of thing where there was literally a limited number of them. Make it even crazier...make it a rare spawn with the current infectious bloodfiends. Like on the order of dolmen generals. And then when X amount of players have it, they no longer spawn. Once a player has not logged in for 90 days, they lose it and the rare spawn appears again.

Even cooler, make it a little rarer and the person who has it can create ONE other vampire lord. And that's it. They can do no more.

My $0.02, for what it's worth, leave the vampire lord to the Dawngaurd silliness in Skyrim and Marcus Corvinus.

Can you see how badly ZOS is likely to mess that up. There's so much else they ought to do just to repair what they messed up with regular vampires.

Rework the ultimate and allow you turn into a Lamprey for a couple of seconds with boosted stats but you're locked out of active abilities. For morphs, add a percentage chance to cause fear on transformation and on the second, a percentage increase of duration.. PVEers, PVPers and Roleplayers get what they want and nobody will be OP because of it. Oh, allow to still be able to bite people as a lamprey though as in, to transform people and not to increase the duration of the transformation .

Changes are coming in 1.6 . WW template comparison isn't relevant imo . Their template is only available while transformed . That isn't a very long duration either .

The werewolf form can be extended, via devouring, and devouring works on EVERYTHING. Their ultimate cost can also be decreased ... allowing a player to transform often. So the comparison is very relevant. This is a werewolf/vampire comparison. The "human" side of a werewolf is the only part that's irrelevant.

At least you don't have to use a "vampire form" that takes up an ultimate slot, costs a boatload of ultimate to use, only lasts for a few seconds, and prevents you from using any class, weapon, armor, guild, or other skills while active.

Werewolves are in need of major improvements imo.

Then ,imo, you're probably not a very good werewolf ... Because a werewolf maxed out is a powerhouse, and being a powerhouse, they can kill almost anything by themselves. Then they have the devour passive that allows them to eat anything they kill - Any and everything they kill - including other players. Werewolves have NOTHING to complain about. The cost of your transformation can even be lowered.

I've seen a player be a Alpha werewolf through an entire dungeon without changing back to human, once.

A lot about being a well-built vampire has to do with creativity. I believe, ZoS, put all the tools and powers in the game necessary for a player to piece together their ideal version of a vamp. And who can deny that NB looks like it was put in the game to expound on being a true blue vampire. Granted, even a werewolf can be a NB, but the point is that the class is available for a vampire to feel like they have more than just two abilities to choose from.

I still think that there are far better ideas that could be implemented to make vampires fair and formidable at the same time. Most of the forum members here have way better ideas than the developers come up with. We as players think about features from a fun aspect ... the developers think about features from a money aspect. That's why we clash.

So since they old thread is still giving me notifications I guess I'll ask, where do Vampires/Vamp nightblades sit these days?
I've recently gotten back into playing the game from time to time and from what I've noticed being a vampire just doesn't seem to be worth it. Not very rewarding for the weakness is and the ugly as sin visuals.

I've cured vamp on even my magblade. The benefits are really not worth it anymore now with the Cloak changes eating a Dawnbreaker will be lethal. I use Soul Tether instead.
With the proxy changes Vicious Death 5 piece might be overkill in the situations you'd use proxy anyway. I'm not really sold on it yet as it'll probably get nerfed. Can't really test it properly on the PTS wouldn't be much AvA going on.
The two and three piece bonuses are nice though.
